I say that, because of the calibre of the people that we get in these programs. The positions they lead now and in the future are positions that will shape our society, meaning it is incredibly important that the concept of strategy is well understood. I love being part of that journey. The sharing of strategic challenges and approaches taken to simply creating, socialising and implementing strategy – by myself and other experienced managers in the room – provides an understanding of best practice in the field of strategy. It is really rewarding to see people come away with hard action plans as to how they can socialise their strategies with their teams and make clear choices about how they will play and win in the future.

After spending 5 years in Adelaide working on Adelaide based projects, I am back into the hustle and bustle of big city life in Melbourne, including regular trips to Hobart and I am not sure if I like it.

My wife and two high school kids are settling into Melbourne and we enjoying being back around our extended family. We are still working out our operating rhythm, finding new extracurricular activities to get involved in.

I really enjoy leading teams and working collaboratively together to produce outstanding outcomes. I have already been involved in a number of great jobs with MCD and look forward what comes next.

My current role is MCD Project Director - Major Projects, in the NZ business. My career background is lots of years project delivery, building in scale and complexity as the years have passed. I'm here to continue the conversation about leadership, and believe that these courses are great spaces to learn more tools and to reflect on what kind of leader I aspire to be (and sometimes how/why that's not the kind of leader I actually am!). It'll be interesting to hear the experience of others and their own reflections as there's power in the sharing. For myself I've been part of and lead small, medium and large teams, and have started and run a successful volunteer organization too...each has it's own lessons and ways to do things well.
