Scene: A small doctor’s office. Carlos is sitting nervously in the waiting chair. Dr. Morales enters with a clipboard.

Dr. Morales:

Good morning! You must be Carlos?

Carlos:

Yes, that’s me. Thank you for seeing me soon as possible.

Dr. Morales:

Of course. What brings you in today?

Carlos:

Well, I’ve been having this weird pain in my stomach for the past three days. It comes and goes, but last night it got worse.

Dr. Morales: (sitting down)

I’m sorry to hear that. On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad is the pain?

Carlos:

Maybe a 7 when it’s at its worst.

Dr. Morales:

Got it. Have you had any other symptoms? Fever, nausea, change in appetite?

Carlos:

Yeah, I’ve felt kind of nauseous. And I didn’t eat much yesterday.

Dr. Morales: (takes notes)

Okay. I’ll need to examine your abdomen and maybe run a few tests to be sure, but it could be something like gastritis, or even your appendix acting up.

Carlos: (worried)

Do you think I need surgery?

Dr. Morales:

Let’s not jump to conclusions. We’ll take it one step at a time. For now, I’ll order an ultrasound and some blood work. We’ll get some answers soon.

Carlos:

Thank you, Doctor. I was really starting to panic.

Dr. Lopez: (smiling)

You did the right thing by coming in. We’ll figure this out together.

Carlos: What medicine I can drink for now?

Dr. Morales: You can take acetaminophen of 750mg every 8 hours. When you have the exams, come back.

Carlos: Thank you doctor, I will come as soon as possible.

It is going to be the year 2015, and we are going to travel by bus from Tegucigalpa. This is going to be because of my cousin’s wedding, which is going to take place at the Salinitas Hotel. It is going to be a weekend trip, but we are not going to have enough time to visit all the attractions since it is going to be huge. It is also going to have several restaurants, which we are not going to fully explore, but I am going to remember it fondly.
