Technology has expanded this practice to include a wide range of materials, referred to as Open Educational Resources (OER). The Hewlitt Foundation explains: "Open educational resources (OER) are free and openly licensed educational materials that can be used for teaching, learning, research, and other purposes." More than just a cost-saving effort, OER highlights the idea that teachers -- not textbooks or other traditional materials -- should create and deliver courses. In other words, textbooks and other resources should be one tool among many that supports teacher practice and student learning.

How can we transfer CI methodology into other subject areas?  What is the purpose of CI?  How can we expose a joy of learning & intellectual curiosity in students with varying levels of language learning ability?  How do students demonstrate their understanding in a CI classroom?  How do we balance this method with the desires of our more traditional grammar-driven students?  How can we still align horizontally with other teachers who are implementing a grammar-based approach?

This group is designed to bring together teachers of various disciplines, primarily in the upper school, (though everyone is welcome) to share and seek opportunities to make these powerful connections for students.
