Universalism 1: In the movie the giver, which deals with a very structured and rule oriented society, the main character’s friend (Asher) follows the rules to a T. Even when Jonas (the main character) wanted to do certain activities that had no rules necessarily written down, Asher refused to do them. The whole movie Asher follows all of the rules because that is what he is “supposed” to do. Asher is an example of universalism because he follows all the rules as a “good citizen of his community” would.

Particularism 1: On the other hand, Jonas’ friend Fiona, does not care for following all the rules and in the end, she is the one who helps Jonas escape. Although at the beginning she is very wary, she ends up breaking the rules with Jonas and risking being punished. Fiona is an example of particularism because she deviates from the structure and rules of her community.

In Fast & the Furious franchise, you can see the sense of communitarianism that is in what Dom calls his family. Throughout each movie the team works together to complete or accomplish the task at hand. In the clip Mia clearly states " We're family, we got a problem we'll deal with it together". Boom communitarianism. A similar quote shows up in all the 7 and coming soon 8 movies. Literally the entire franchise is about the family going through something together and fast cars.

For example, once a baby is born a mother will put a tiny red bracelet around the baby’s wrist to protect them from this “mal de ojo”. Also I’ve witnessed someone who had it draw a tiny cross on a child’s forehead just so they don’t pass on this “mal de ojo”.
