As I was taking the walk, I heard the birds chirping, the sound of water and the rustling of tree leaves. Even though all these sounds were so different to each other, I still felt that it was like music to my ears. This brings me to the video of ‘Music as Language by Victor Wooten’ that we have watched during our first session of the class. In that video he clearly explained that music is not something that can be made only with specific instruments, but it is something like a language that we learn as a baby and then keep on learning and creating it as per our like throughout our lives.

When I went for walk, I realised how calm and relaxed I have felt. With in the park I felt that I have no stress and have very quite environment around me. This make me thinking of video ‘DADIRRI, INNER DEEP LISTENING & QUIET STILL AWARENESS - MIRIAM-ROSE UNGUNMERR’ in session. I was able to relate to her feelings as I was going deep inside the park. It helped me to listen to my thoughts and feelings.

By looking at the movement of trees, flowing water and walking and flying birds, I thought of dancing with them as for me it did look like they are dancing with the wind. As an early childhood teacher I have introduced the idea of dance and movement in my setting. This allows us to be physically active indoors even when the weather is not allowing us to go outdoors. One of the children favourite is “Chicken Song” on which they have come up with their own dance movements. As an early childhood educator, I have started introducing music to the children by giving them different instruments, but to my surprise, children have started building their own instruments from the recycling area. They are using paper roller as a way of making sound with their mouth, they have started using tables and their hands to make drum rolls and sometimes they just make sound with their mouth.

After coming back from the walk, I wanted to introduce this in my class as well, therefore, we started playing the quite music or the sound of water flowing music in the room. All the children liked it and requested us to play from time to time during the day activities. This also made our class calmer and more responsive. Children have started using their low pitch voice when communicating and when educators or teachers ask them any question, they are able to hear it and response it very quickly.

Music is Everywhere

The sounds that birds made was chirping, The water was flowing and thus making the sound, even the wind has its own sound , but in the end it is all nature and all the sounds that nature make does make music and provide calmness to us

We all can Dance and Move

With the wind flowing, the trees and leaves are going to move, even the water is going to make movement and make waves but with my imagination it did look like they all were dancing in a flow and it did make me dance with them.

Let's all play a Game

When I stated that I can play games in the park, it was connected to my imagination and experience of climbing trees or running around the trees. It showed by imagination of playing like character ‘Mowgli’ from “The Jungle Book”. But this does not stop the children to explore and imagine what they like.
