I particularly enjoyed playing with movement to achieve an ethereal, other-dimensional effect, highlighting the organic and unusual shapes of the felt object. For the image with the yellow beneath the felt, I used my iPad to light a canvas, reflecting yellow onto the underside to create a complementary contrast to the overall blue hues.

To achieve this I experimented with contrast to bring greater depth to the scene between shadows and brighter elements. The simple nature of the photograph aid to highlight this through limited subject matter.

I really enjoyed this photo experiment given the ability to express materiality in this way. I think it feels quite industrial and ford-esque. The repetitive elements feel somewhat like a production line. Raw.

Finding a peacock photograph recalled a childhood memory of my mother creating a collage from collected fabric. After months of meticulous work, despite its imperfections, the framed fabric peacock was hung in our dining room.

For this body of work, my creative process began with uncertainty, a creative block that paradoxically became my catalyst. Through experimentation, I discovered the act of making and ‘starting somewhere’, is the art itself. The process, without predetermined outcomes, became as meaningful as the result.

Nature, a constant inspiration for me, along with a simple idea—altering scanned images from my parents' archives—led to experimentation with inversion and layering of adjustments in Photoshop. This evolved further into other processes like Cyanotype printing.

Inversion emerged as a key theme, mirroring the balance of opposites in our world. What began as casual exploration with different photographic processes deepened my connection to creativity. Although created with very different intent, my work has aesthetic similarities with Danie Mellor and explores processes used by Simon Roberts.

This body of work, like my mother’s peacock collage, is a reminder to trust the journey and integrate creativity into daily life. Even the uncertainty and the absence of direction can yield something meaningful.

Draft: Here and Never is a reflection on a recent period of change in my life where I was met with the emotional challenges of loneliness; experiencing a shift from living socially amongst others to evenings alone where my mind would often speak more than my mouth.

The photographic series depicts self-portraits and familiar scenes, chopped and collaged, piecing together the emotional weight of living by oneself. Quiet scenes are enveloped by intense visual disarray which capture the unforgiving isolation my mind and body experienced.
