When writing a story, or posting an article it can be difficult to determine which image suits best, or even if the piece should have an image attached.

To help, Adoni Media founder and journalist, Leisa Goddard has put together some helpful tips.

How do pictures help tell a story?

In some cases, a picture is better at communicating a story rather than any written word.

Pictures can also convey a message quickly. People often don’t have time to read a lengthy article, therefore a picture helps to grab our attention immediately and our brain allows us to process these images at an alarming speed. The old adage is true – a picture speaks 1000 words.

What images should I use on my social media?

On social media platforms, quality attention grabbing images can keep a viewer engaged. It is better to steer clear of common stock photography and use high quality unique images. Images and graphics can help significantly in sharing and views.

Beautiful images are important for your audience but having accurate photo descriptions is also useful for better search engine optimisation. By having accurate captions, you can take advantage of the search engine traffic related to your image.

With high levels of phone use, it is also useful to check how images will appear on phones or tablets, to ensure the image is correctly displayed. Make sure you resize the image if needed in order to better suit the platform you are using.

Simple images and video are an effective choice, and conceptual or artistic content should be used when you wish to provoke an emotional response.

Features of a ridesharing app

Ridesharing apps have rapidly grown in demand and popularity over the last few years. Apps like WeDrive, Uber and Lyft are ahead of the curve when it comes to safely driving people home after a night out.

Different ridesharing businesses have different apps, meaning different features in the palm of your hand.

So, let’s have a look at the various features found on ridesharing apps.

Multiple payment options: Many people don’t bother about carrying cash around with them these days, so having different options and ways to pay for the ride can be a lifesaver. Credit cards, mobile wallets and services like PayPal are all options people can select before hopping into a car. Apps like Uber even offer the passenger the choice of splitting the fare, meaning if there’s multiple people in the car, you can share the price of the rideshare within the app itself, saving you the hassle of dividing it up later.

Tracking your driver: A feature you’ll notice when you first use a rideshare app is the tracking map system. If you’re in a dark area or running late for something, you can just take a look at your phone to find out how long it will take your driver to arrive. Real-time location allows the passenger to be ready and patiently waiting before their ride arrives.

Fare predictions: Another handy feature of a rideshare app is being able to predict how much the ride will cost you before you hop in the vehicle. That way, there are no surprises when you look at your bank account after reaching the destination.

Notifications: Push notifications on your smartphone make it easy to know if your ride is approaching, even if you haven’t got the app open. Information such as ride fares, locations and cancellations can be sent through as a notification, meaning you’ll be kept informed with everything that’s happening with your ride.
