When at elementary school, the things that kept me was being a part of the soccer team and the basketball team when he came to high school more towards the soccer team team and school choir and school leadership club because they all gave me an opportunity to not only make friends with my teammates, but as well as provide me the opportunity to travel share my spirits. Especially when it comes to the leadership team being able to go to Niagara for the he Ontario Student Leadership Conference. ( Fun Fact my school won that year :) )

In elementary school, I joined a club where we would work 1:1 with younger students in the library to practice reading. Reading has always been one of my biggest interests, and I really enjoyed working closely with students, making reading fun, and connecting about books. I also have a vague memory of joining a book club in elementary school too.

In elementary school, I had just immigrated to Canada from Trinidad. I was in grade 5, new school, with no friend groups, and no sense of belonging. I joined the Choir as I love to sing. I remember humming songs in class. I was involved in the School Band Club and played the Clarinet. I was involved in the Drama Club and acted in countless school Plays. I excelled in Track and Field- high jump and 100 m race and relays were my specialty. These activities were great as they allowed me to make friends and socialize. In secondary school I joined the choir and did that for the 5 years I was there. Looking back on things now I wish I had been involved in more extra-curricular activities like Drama Club and Track and Field.

When I was in elementary school as a child, the extracurricular activities that caught my attention were dance class in the gymnasium after school and a homework and crafts after school program, Lady Bugs, at the community centre by my house. I joined a drama program and the boys flag football team in middle school as there wasn’t a girls team. My friend and I decided to try out and we were the only girls among the team. In high school, I wasn’t really interested in joining any sports team and my high school’s arts programs weren’t being funded well so there wasn’t many. When I switched schools, I wasn’t really social as I didn’t know participate in any extracurricular activities or committees which I do regret now that I’m older looking back on it.
