The tone Beowulf spoke to the only warrior with him and his awareness of the condition he is in and what is awaiting him. Beowulf's tone lets us understand why he has accepted his fate, and what he wants the warriors to do after his passing. The original text has a clearer representation of the text than the graphic novel. The way that Beowulf tells the warriors to start making preparations for his cremation and funeral, his voice sounds understanding, with a slight bit of happiness, and acceptance towards his fate.

The description of how many days Beowulf swam, how many swings of his sword it took to kill each monster, and how many monsters there were that attacked Beowulf. These descriptive elements in the text show how strong, the amount of endurance, and the amount of willpower Beowulf has to keep swimming and kill every sea monster he has stumbled upon. The original text has a clearer representation of the text than the graphic novel. This is so because the original text gives more descriptive elements that allow the reader to more clearly envision the difficulties of doing what Beowulf was doing, and how brave he is not just physically, but mentally.

The descriptive elements that describe the condition of Grendel, what Beowulf did with Grendel's mother, and what he is going to do with Grendel. These descriptive elements show how furious and determined Beowulf is to kill both Grendel and his mother, and how much resentment Beowulf has towards the other two. The graphic novel has a much clearer representation of the text than the original text. The illustrations of Beowulf killing Grendel and his mother do this by showing no hesitation in Beowulf in killing them, and the reaction of Grendel seeing Beowulf kill his mother and now coming to finish him off.
