If you look around a room with multiple people, chances are there will be someone wearing a lot of makeup if not, they could be wearing just making mascara or something else. If that does not apply then most in the room will be wearing lotion, deodorant, or perfume. In these products most likely animals have been abused when making them. This does not just go on in cosmetics but clothing, and medical purposes too. If this includes you, it's not necessarily your fault but the brand that you are getting those things from should make a change. Animal testing should be banned because it kills and abuses animals.

The most well known animal's rights organization is People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). They have raised awareness of the issue with advertising campaigns, propaganda, and efforts to get legislation passed, but unfortunately after all of that world it is still not banned (Regal, Brian). According to the Humane Society International, Animals that are used to test are often exposed to force feeding, food and water deprivation, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing process, the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies, killing by carbon dioxide asphyxiation, neck-breaking, decapitation, and many more devastating things, so you can see why so many people want to ban it and you should too. ( procon.org) Oftentimes animals would have to be killed to get them out of pain. I hope You probably wouldn't want to harm animals at all so banning animal testing would be the rights choice. Animal testing is a big deal because more than 6 million animals are tested in just New Zealand and Australia each year and over 26 million each year around the world.(Cole, Natasha.) You know that getting tested is painful, so why do it on millions of animals?

You may be thinking that animal testing is good because it can help for medical reaserch and there is no other way, but there is. Although this system is really complex many humans actually volunteer and of course no one would be forced. There are actually new Technological advancements in 3D printing allowing the possibility for tissue bioprinting. This is a French company that is working to bioprint a liver that can test the toxicity of a drug. Human skin can be made from sheets of human skin cells grown in test tubes or plastic wells and may produce more useful results than testing chemicals on animal skin.(procon.org) This way no animals are harmed and people get the testing they need. If more people were into this topic, there would be recognition and resources so people can invent more ways that can be more effective.

I made a survey and interviewed some people to see what they thought and mostly everyone believed animal testing should be banned no matter what except for one person that said it should be banned except for medical purposes. One person from my survey said “Yes, animal testing is very cruel, there are set up regulations currently for labs but there not followed. Also a lot of the tests animals experience are painful and kind of violate their "rights", there are also multiple alternative testing methods that now exist, animal testing isn't necessarily needed”. This shows that even a person who does not know a lot about animal testing is against it because they know its bad. All of these people from the survey show how bad the problem is because they all agree.

A person from the interview said “ Also cosmetic animal testing is still legal in 80% of the world and an estimated 300,000 animals die each year in cosmetic animal tests in China alone” (Lucy Barney) This person knows a lot about animal testing and is eager to get it banned. She knows the harm it can do, she also thinks that if it kills 300,000 animals when this kind of testing is not actually supposed to, it shows how harmful it is. 80% of the world knows the harm but still someone wants to keep it going, if we work hard enough we can set those animals free from all the pain they are experiencing.

Overall animal testing is very wrong and should be stopped even if it is for medical purposes. If you want to help, you can buy cruelty free products. There are enough brands out there that are cruelty free so you don’t need a product that is not. If you discover that there is a product you own that is not cruelty free there is no need to throw it out but when you are done you can switch it out with an easy alternative.

All around the world Innocent animals are being abused by animal testing. Animal testing is used for cosmetics, testing treatments, studying topics and more. There are some alternative that people can do instead that work just as well but instead they still chose to abuse. The part I highlighted is the part I felt proud of. This is because I felt it was a creative way to start the op-ed.
