It has been reported that Solar Energy it's a clean and renewable enery source. It is estimated that Nicaragua receives an average of 2,800 hours to 2,900 hours of sunlight annually. Based on that, it is reasonable to assume that the best energy source for our area it would be the solar energy. We need to buy and install solar panels, generator and batteries to store the energy to power our house. It could be a mistake to assume that this idea is expensive, but it is an investment for the future.

Meritxell Valdivia.

Vladimir Sánchez.

Melanny Blandón.

It is believed that one of the most useful source of energy here in Managua is the solar panels. This is because of the weather which most of the time is really sunny so is the best environment to have solar panels. With this perfect conditions it can reach a pick of production of energy thanks to the weather. It is important to consider that this energy would help to reduce the monthly payments related to the bill of energy consumption in our house and neighborhood. But obviously to have this you need yo invest money to get it done. It is reported that this energy is profitable in long term and easy to maintain.

One of the main sources of renevable energy in Nicaragua is biomass. It consists of the use of agricultural waste to generate steam and electricity. The main biomass used in Nicaragua is sugarcane bagasse from the country´s five sugar mills, but some of them also use rice husk, coffe husk, and another agricultural wastes.

Energy biomass represents 16% of the national grid. It isn´t only a renevable and clean energy but facilitates the managament of waste that could cause an storage and enviromental problems.

Its well known that the energy transition into renewable energy is a reality in our country. Biomass is just one of the alternative sources, but solar energy is also on the rise. This year, two new solar projects are being implemented, one of wich will contribute 36 Mwp to the national grid.

Eolic (Wind) Energy in Nicaragua

It is estimated that Nicaragua has the potential to generate up to 800 megawatts of electricity from wind.

It seems that the strongest wind resources are located around Lake Nicaragua in Rivas region, where constant winds blow year-round.

It has been reported that projects like Amayo (63 MW) and Eolo (44 MW) are already producing clean electricity for the national grid.

It appears that expanding wind farms could help the country reach its goal of producing more than 90% of its energy from renewables in the coming years.

It is clear that wind power reduces dependence on fossil fuels and encourages to use energy with low-emission

Wind power is the largest producer of renewable electricity. It has worked in many countries so it could be a good idea to improve it in Nicaragua. It is thought that this nature-based energy could improve to find the climate change. It would seem logical to place it in Crucero, Managua. Because is a high and cold point.
