In Ontario, workplace training is an essential part of any industry, because it provides safety to their employees in all aspects. Different types of workplace safety training are there and every training also has its certification, for example, bucket truck training, forklift training, Traffic control person certification Ontario training, aerial lift training, etc.

Among all these Aerial lift training involves three types of training which involves – scissor lifts, boom lifts, and telehandlers.

Three of them look very similar, but each one has a special purpose, and three of them are suited for various jobs and environments.

Here we have provided a guide about everything you need to know about aerial lifts.

1. Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts are platforms that lift and lower weighty loads and workers. The scissor lift is designed in a way that permits the platform to be raised directly above the base. This also provides unique stability and keeps the scissor lift different from other aerial lifts.

Scissor lifts perform the same purpose as same as ladders, but with more dedicated reach and carrying capacity. More businesses are investing in scissor lifts nowadays to enhance their productivity and decrease costs.

2. Boom Lifts

Boom lifts are another type of aerial work platform and they are also known as basket cranes. To operate a boom lift you need to go through boom lift training. Boom lifts are very equivalent to scissor lifts; however, they can generally reach higher heights. Unlike most telehandlers, boom lifts are used to transport the workforce and materials to high heights.

They are especially useful for going to hard-to-reach areas that could be probably dangerous. Booms are mostly used by firefighters, construction, electricians, and sometimes even by window cleaners.

3. Telehandlers

A telescopic handler, also known as a telehandler, is a person who is certified with telehandler certification Ontario. It is similar to a telescopic boom but it is fitted with a lifting attachment. Telehandlers works like a forklift, but at greater heights, and are most generally used in the agricultural and construction industries.

Most of the telehandlers come with a 4-wheel drive chassis which is with a telescopic boom that can lift heights of 50 feet or more. The telescopic boom moves the shipment forwards and upwards.

Generally, telehandlers are compared to cranes because they both elevate loads. Telehandlers are often more practical and efficient than cranes because the ability to reach out in front of the telehandler gives the operator more flexibility while placing the load.
