I knew that diagnosing Lyme Disease was difficult, but I didn't realize that testing for it was nearly impossible. These tests can only happen if enough antibodies have been exposed to the bacteria, which takes several weeks. If treatment is early, the bacteria can be killed and no antibodies will have been created, meaning there’s no way of knowing if the person had it or not. If the body does produce antibodies, both tests will end up positive and continue searching for the bacteria.

There are so many things that could be wrong with a patient, and there are so many new technologies that have helped physicians with the diagnosis process. However, have these new technologies made physicians lazier with diagnosing? Back in the 19th century, the author said that doctors used to have "interviews" with patients instead of examinations which made the process of going to the doctor more personal to the patient. If we could bring that back to the 21st century, the medical world could be a much more efficient and effective place.
