1.) What did Sherman mean by this comment?
- Sherman meant that Mary Walker did not dress like how a normal women would dress. He told her that she isn't wearing women's or men's clothing. He was bascially asking her why she did not dress normally.
2.) Now women are seen as doctors just like men are. Today there are still some work that is considered "men's work." They are basically constrution workers, military, and truck driving.

1. What are the chances of something like this happening? What makes this story one-of-a-kind?: The chances of this happening are very slim. This story is one of a kind because of all the conflict and drama revolving around it.
2. Using what you know about Civil War wounds, what would Barlow's chance of survival be? The chances of his survival would be very small, because of the deadly bullets called mini balls that were shot.

1. What are the chances of something like this happening? What makes this story one-of-a-kind? 2. Why would Gordon, who led the attack on Barlow stop to help him?

1. The chances of this happening are very slim, that they actually both survived and met up again later. It's a one of a kind because they both thought the other was dead, but then they met up again.
2. Gordon probably stopped because he felt bad, after all they were both Americans.

1. If Miss Dix gave up everytime she was faced with a challenge many Civil War soldiers would have died. Also, an oppurtunity for women to become nurses wouldn't have arised for possibly years later. Finally, people with mental illnesses may not be treated compassionately and be respected like they are today.
2. The only woman that was allowed to be a nurse was a someone who was likely not available to soldiers or looking for a husband. They had to wear clothes that didn't accentuate their features an make them look attractive to any of the soldiers. They also had to be quiet and not very expressive. This way it was very hard for the lead male doctors to find reasons to fire and get rid of the women nurses.

1. What are the chances of something like this happening?
2. What makes this story one-of-a-kind?: 1. The chances of this happening are almost impossible because if someone does not die due to a wound they usually die from infection. 2. This story is one of a kind due to the fact that each general thought the other was dead for 15 years until miraculously they were invited to the exact same dinner table.
