I think the theme of A Christmas Carol is even the most mean-hearted and egocentric of people can turn their life around and become a person that is nice happy and outgoing.

Christmas spirit can change your heart. The story opened with a greedy, selfish uncaring person who didn't care how his actions affected everyone else . But as the story went on he started to relize how greedy and selfish he was so he started to change and then finally at the end Scrooge was kind hearted and a nice person unlike him in the beginning
