         <description><![CDATA[<div>William was born May 1821 in New Jersey. He was sent to work to work with a business owner.  By the age of 19 he was able to improve in profits. The empire that his family had, the railroads,  later made him the key figure.  The Vanderbilt organization was later given to William. He worked on it until he retired. HE ended up making $100 mil. to $200 mil. which was double what they started with.</div>]]></description>

He came up later with the first bank of the U.S. after the expiration of charter. The fortune he gained he gave to a social welfare institution and he founded the Stephen Girard College.</div>]]></description>
