I also plan to utilize my skills in set building for this particular project as well.

The main reason for this type of animation is so that I can hone and strengthen my weak skills, while still incorporating my strengths to assist me.

The Orator takes the form of a humanoid person in a suit that appears to have multiple types of designs and colors fused. Additionally, in place of where it's head should be, there is instead an enlarged mouth and a single eyeball.

As its appearance would suggest, he is a rather loud and outspoken person, eager to spread his voice to whichever corner he can reach.

Segmented takes the form of a distorted head that splits into countless smaller versions while barely balancing on a very thin pin.

Segmented represents Jackson's selfless, yet selfish nature of wanting to care for everyone but himself.

From an aesthetic standpoint, it compliments the feeling of uncanny and surreal-ness I am trying to achieve as the animation is being viewed. A person’s psyche is not a physically visible subject or setting, so turning it into environments should have it appear as something that is uneasy and hard to comprehend.

Additionally when looking from the narrative side, this also fits for that aspect as well since liminal spaces are described to created an odd sense of nostalgia or even get people to feel sentimental. It’s the feeling that such everyday places are definitely locations people are familiar with, but are suddenly devoid of all life.

Jackson appears as a middle-aged businessman, although compared to his 'Orator' counterpart, he is very disheveled in appearance. He also carries around a leather briefcase and wears slippers instead of proper shoes.

Jackson's personality fluctuates easily, going from cranky to gloomy easily while looking exhausted. Doesn't have much patience for anything other than his work.

Sloth appears as an entity that resembles an elderly man with extremely long hair and a white beard. Sloth rarely even makes any movements and is shown always chained and held down by restraints of his own making. His body is composed entirely of messy scribbles while his eyes are two hollow white holes.

Sloth represents Jackson's reluctance to partake in any activity that isn't related to his work, such as spending time with family or daily tasks Jackson deems unimportant. On rare occasions, it would also be agitated if Jackson wants to go to work as if urging it to stay home (office) and work from there.

Fear's appearance is that of a tall and lanky figure comprised of being entirely black. It has several faint features on its body, mainly the visible skinny chest wrapping around its bones, and its root-like feet and clawed hands.

Fear represents the many factors of Jackson's depressive thoughts, along with his possible harmful impulses. Fear also represents Jackson's doubtfulness about himself.

Only four pieces of stairs will be made with foam blocks and then layer on top of repeating stairs added in post.

The podium is to be made out of wood, the stage and audience seats out of foam blocks and the curtains will be either knitted or felted. The audiences are paper cutouts.

During the shooting, the walls of this set will be covered in red to serve as red screens for chroma keying.

The table, computer, and chair will be made from wood. The mattress is still being decided, and the wallpaper "tears" will only be paper cutouts stuck to the wall, designed to look like real tears.

All the remaining work is now focused on creating the props needed for each scene (office, speaker's chamber, flower field).

I wasn't quite satisfied with the look of the stage base, but luckily the storyboarding rarely had me show the surface of the stage.

So instead I decided to use Dragonframe to mostly shoot high-resolution shots for them to be later rendered out into individual image sprites.

Since this sequence was especially sprite-heavy, I needed to work out all the possible images I could extract to be later used in the post by doing them separately.
