Group 2 MJM AMR Adventures Presentation by

During week 5, our group took a trip to the UMMA near Angel Hall. As soon as we stepped foot inside we were blown away by the vast amount of paintings and sculptures throughout the museum. Our group was tasked with finding three pieces of art titled, Portrait of Francoise, Day Maker, and Flay all beautiful paintings we had never seen before. Walking through the museum was a great way to appreciate all the hard work that goes into creating art. Overall we had a great experience at the UMMA and we highly recommend anyone interested in art or looking for something to check it out.

University of Michigan Nichols Arboretum, Washington Heights, Ann Arbor, MI

We went to the Arb as our adventure, and it was a very interesting experience because before that I had not seen the nature side of Michigan, and it showed us that there is nature on campus for us to see whenever we want. In addition, we hiked down to the lake and sat for a while to enjoy the view and talk to each other.

From very well-known landmarks like the art museum to less talked-about places like Misfits Coffee, working in groups helped us find new places on campus we would have never thought to go.
Spending time with new people at the beginning of the semester
gave us a new lens on familiar places because we had to learn about the history of them.
appreciation of the campus and all that it offers for us to explore.

What we appreciated most is the time that we have spent together --- we learned a lot about each one of us, our background, our culture and our personalities
We found good study spots, places for food, and ourdoor locations that we had little knowledge about --- the Arb is our favorite ourdoor adventure spot where we love to enjoy the nature vibe and it was such an unexpected adventure for the group.

One recommendation we have is to adventure to another location instead of the horror location as we found it more challenging than others to find a suitable spot.
Another recommendation we have is to have a mix of required locations and locations the group decides on as we found it to be fun and interesting venturing out on our own finding something intriguing to do.

Misfit Society Coffee Club, East University Avenue, 安娜堡密歇根

Our group went to Misfits Society Coffee Club at 615 E University Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. All three of us loved the

place, both the design and decoration of the coffee shop and the variety on the menu. The coffee shop is

very unique, with the murals and paintings on the wall reflecting modern and contemporary architectural design.

The menu is very interesting, especially the naming of the different drinks such as “drip”, “sugar daddy” or “groot”. More so, there’s a place around the corner where all the gears of the Misfits Society Coffee are presented and customers are welcomed to buy.

The Cube

Going to the rock was a very fun experience, especially since when we got there it had just stopped raining and we could just enjoy our time there. Myself and Michael had never spined the rock either, so it was fun for us. However, I have heard it is bad luck to spin it if you're currently a student. Something cool I learned about it was that it was made by a sculpture artist who graduated from U of M in 1936. He was known for his public art sculptures. One thing I also learned from Jayden was that you were supposed to spin the cube on your arrival to campus freshman year and not spin in till you leave; obviously we didn't follow this

The Rock, Hill Street, 安娜堡密歇根

Our team went to the Rock at the corner of Washtenaw Avenue and Hill Street for the "Campus Lore" adventure. The Rock is famously known for undergoing weekly makeovers painted by UM students. According to Michigan Daily, the Rock is the remnant of “Ann Arbor’s Most Famous

Glacial Erratic” and was moved to Ann Arbor as memorial for George Washington’s

200th birthday. The tradition of painting the rock began in 1953 when a group of students painted the rock before one of the rivalry football games, and the tradition continues until now. The subject of Rock painting varies from time to time — football games, major events, school opening and so on. We definitely recommend visiting the Rock sometimes during the times at Michigan, since it really shows the school pride and the fun of college life.
