We study fiction because we can create more situations and scenarios for the worlds. With fictional characters we can analyze the person and details that can be more descriptive then a nonfictional story where we can see the person or event. In non fiction more details and description need to be added to create a vivid image to the reader that is usually available in nonfiction stories. We retail more literary skills from a fictional text then from a nonfictional text. -alex

We study it so we understand writing it and why authors do what they do and why they do it. Its beneficial for us to study it since we will always have to read something for the rest of our lives no matter what it is. It becomes our safeguard against not understanding something important in the future. Another reason is their is history in fiction history we must know since its so rich and vivid because writing is not just writing its like creating a whole new world. This history is what helps us become better writers and create new history through our own writing adding even more to the immense history of fiction. - Hector Perez

Other reasons are the ability for readers to allow their creativity to run wild; imagination takes a large part of who we are, and help us explore inside our own minds. Many stories, whether it be psychological, emotional, etc, helps us gain a new understanding of someone or something else's perspective inside their eyes, and we gain knowledge of different ideas besides our own.
