I started brainstorming and I wrote for 5 minutes. I was inspired with words and phrases like

"really really good"

"never give up on me"

"nations will hear it"

so I put them together and used it as the basis for my verses and my chorus.

I selected words that could rhyme together and I picked short one syllable words and short sentences because I want the song to be more speaking at the beginning. I want to build up the story from there with words and music.

Band Name:

Name of Members:

Vocals: Joyce, Sarah, M J, Zoe-Lee

Ethen : Lead guitar

Robert: Drum

Ben: Bass

Tymek: Guitar

Leon: Guitar

Hermione: Keys

Set list : Ain't It Fun by Paramore

Take Me Away by Freaky Friday

For rehearsals today, I booked my band's preferred rehearsals room 4

It's got more space and a good view plus daylight.

I always go easily to open the door and set up my instrument ie, microphone, connect it to the amp, switch it on and also switch on the two speakers. I like to help others but in order to achieve that I finish my own one first and then help.

Whilst setting up, I do vocal warm ups by singing some songs. Also, we don't actually do vocal warm up during rehearsals as a band and that's why I do my personal warm up. We usually start rehearsals by discussing who sings what verse in the song and who will does the harmony and the chorus. This is because we have 4 vocalists in the band and to make sure everyone gets a turn. There are some verses that can only be sung as a solo so we have to consider this. Whilst discussing the vocalists verses on the lyrics, the rest of the band practice their instruments. We then start to choose a song from the set list then practice it, and check what went well and what we need to fix. We run through it again. Also, we then do the same process with the second song. Before we finish rehearsals we discuss what we have to work on for the next practice and encourage each other to go and learn our own parts.

We usually get on as a band and we always have a successful rehearsal with each other. We all go home happy afterwards.

My band and I started to write a song and we came together and brainstormed random words. We used those words to create a song called "Somewhere I'll find you". During this process, I gained experience of how to brainstorm random words and how to join them together to create meaningful sentences. In the process, we had challenging moments where I wanted to write a happy song and my other band members wanted to have a more emotional song so we ended up combining these two together and we came up with something not too emotional or deep, somewhere in the middle. I am happy with this song we have produced out of random words . The other half of the band came up with a more exciting song but we had to go with the group decision. At the end, we chose the exciting song which is called "Shit Show"

Not only the ideas but also people in the band had to agree to it for smooth progress of the song.

I think the whole band has faced or encountered with some challenges because we all have individual approach to things. but the good news is we had prepared and practiced the songs to achieved the success at the end

I overcame this challenge by simply being flexible to go by any new changes of plans.

Personally, I wrote a song with the other half of our group called "Somewhere I'll Find You". This is my personal contribution to the song writing development process.

I have also been to all the rehearsals during the development of our original song supporting the ideas working together as a group.

During the process, I have learned a lot of song writing techniques that I did not know before. I have gained a lot of exciting experience that I will be using for long time in my music career.

However, as I worked through it, I quickly realised that it was more difficult than expected.

When I did the project I wrote a dialogue and recorded my own voice on the logic project. However, when I presented my work to my lecturer, I sensed that he didn't like it that much so I removed my voice and redid the whole project.

Through the experience I learned how to export sound effects from Pixabay and the keyboard shortcut for capturing screenshots (Shift + Command + 4). I also learned to record MIDI audio .

Also, I learned how to adjust audio levels, how to use the pencil and scissors tools for editing and how to use EQ.

I also learned how to upload my Logic Pro project to OneDrive and then share the link on Padlet.

While working with Logic Pro, I've gained a lot of experience in using the tools it has.
Evaluation On MY Live Performance 14/1/26

On my project 2 live performance, I would like to say it was better than my project 1. This is because

the band delivered a great live performance.

My performance kept the audience's attention from the beginning through to the final original song. I think I presented clear musical skills. Overall I have remained consistent throughout the set-List. I hope this made a memorable and satisfying experience for the audience.

My vocal delivery was confident and controlled .

I believe I matched intended notes and remain anchored to the tone of the song.

I had a minor timing issue during the chorus responds however, I managed to join back in without any problem.

I felt my stagecraft was one of my strengths. Also I would say my band had a strong stage presence.

I think the things that went well are :

A balanced setlist- our setlist worked out perfect in terms of changing from one song to another . There was a good variety.

Audience engagement - We connected to our audience well. For instance, the audience was singing and clapping ''don't go crying to your mama''. It was really good. I enjoyed it as much as they were enjoying it.

Strong instrumental and vocal performance
As a band we had a stable groove and controlled dynamics. We delivered a perfect performance to our audience.

Soundchecks were good to me. There was no technical issues during the performance.

Transitions between songs were smooth and we handled them well.

I think the areas for improvement are:

 1. Timing during performance - I have to maintain consistent tight timing throughout performances in the future.

Lighting on the stage was a bit too dark - On my next performance I will ask the light technician to double check the lighting before we start.

In conclusion, I am pleased with my live performance as it went better then my previous one. As a band, we presented a confident, entertaining and technically competent live performance. This reflected our commitment during rehearsals and preparation towards the performance.

My group has clear potential to reach an even higher performance standard.

I was invited to perform at Milton Road Sanctuary Award Event. The programme was about international students who have come here to study ESOL. As part of the college support programme, Edinburgh College Milton Road got an award from the government.

After the performance, I looked back at my video and reflected on my performance. I realised that I have gained more confidence in performing to an audience. I was able to deliver the song as its meant to be delivered. The audience was connected with me, engaging with me and paying attention. They really enjoyed it even though they did not understand the language. Before I started, I told them where they could get the translation (my you tube page). After the performance, I had a lot of positive feedback from the audience and they told me how much they liked the song even though they didn't understand it. Some of the audience subscribed to my you tube channel. We had pictures taken and some of the audience took my contact details. After, I felt happy especially with how the people reacted to me.

Evaluation on Logic Pro Mixing Project 3 10/03/2026

Evaluation of my logic Project 3

I was off sick, I missed the classes on mixing on logic. When I started this mixing project, it was new to me, and it was my first time knowing the term mixing in Logic.

The initial stage was very challenging, but I researched and found a video about how to do mixing on YouTube that enabled my understanding and enlightened me on the details, and I followed the process step by step starting from the fader on the volume channel, and added panning and EQ.

I also tried using reverb but could not apply it on this project as it was a bit difficult to understand. I am eager to learn this and apply it in my future project.

My experience in this mixing project has improved.

Mixing on logic has given me new skills on Logic pro.

I have learnt how to open a new EQ to adjust sound and been able to achieve most of the requirements of this project.

At the end of my project, there was a balance in drums, bass, vocals, guitar and keyboard. I was able to mix these instruments based on their high and low pitches.

EQ was used to remove unwanted frequencies to enhance the sounds in the mixing.

I also looked at reverb and compression but I could not apply it in this project as I did not understand the logic behind it.

Panning was applied in this project; it was used to spread the volume of the instrumental sound in the mixing, therefore, there was no crashing in sound.

Finally, the mixing sound works well together, and I am happy with the sound I have produced.

Whilst discussing the vocalists verses on the lyrics, the rest of the band practice their instruments.

We then start to choose a song from the set list then practice it, and check what went well and what we need to fix. We run through it again.

Also, we then do the same process with the second song. Before we finish rehearsals we discuss what we have to work on for the next practice and encourage each other to go and learn our own parts
