The motif of temptation resonated with me most because I think it is easy to get distracted from what really matters in life. There are a lot of things that people may say are important, or other people think are important, but they're really not. I could be tempted to thinking that those things matter just to make other people happy or I can set my own goals, like Odysseus did when he kept trying to get home to his family.

The motif of hubris I think connects to life in the fact that if you are overconfident then it will show pretty quickly that there is always someone better. In life I think that you have to stay fairly humble to be able to accept some outcomes that don't go your way because a lot of them won't. If you go into those situations thinking that there is no chance you lost then its even harder to accept that.

For instance, someone could've beaten them at something, like a game, or maybe they did something mean to them and now that person wants to get back at them.

I think the motif is temptation because when Odysseus takes his men out on the journey he can get tempted by certain things but he must stay focused throughout the entire journey. Another example is when the angels are singing to the solders they are singing things that they want to hear or in other words tempting them. This connects with life because there are certain things that tempt us, and us in the real world can ignore what other people have to say and just listen to what we want to hear.

The motif deception connects to real life because deception is a betrayal or trick. So a example would be when someone stabs you in the back by doing or saying something,Or someone purposely trying to get under your skin to get something.Or decision you thought was good ends up making u regretting it. Deception also seems to add to conflict because there are 2 sides of a story and each person will want you to take their side .But if the middle man asks the other side about something to see if its true it adds on to the problem.

Temptation connects to real life because you could be wanting to do or get something you really want but there could be consequences if you got what you wanted . An example is that, if I really wanted that expensive ring I would be tempted to buy it but I would also not want to buy it because it would be expensive and I to save money. That is why we need to learn to resit the things that we want and let the good things come to us.

Hubris connects to many aspects of real life. It can connect to your relationship with peers, to your relationship with the world around you. Hubris connects to all these aspects of life through many different ways. For instance, by making you a rash and make decisions that could have a extreme effect on your life. Or by making you have an inflated ego, that no one wants to hang around. Hubris change how you see yourself, and everything around you. Sometimes for better, but usually for worse.

Temptation is a motif that connects to real life and advances the plot in The Odyssey. I can compare temptation to real life because in The Odyssey there are moments where Odysseus makes a mistake and was tempted to do something when he shouldn't of have. Temptation connects with me to real life because I would be tempted to ask for something that wouldn't be a good time to ask that question. It wouldn't be a great time to ask for something when you didn't do well on an assignment and made a poor choice when you already know you did. This would be another example of a poor choice.

Temptation connects to real life by average choices we make today. For example, I could have the temptation to skip a class but then their would be consequences so I make the right choice. It could also connect to our world by the temptation of follow ones wrong doings and listen to their teachings just to get what we want, instead of earning it the right way.
