Through this semester, I have advanced as both reader and writer by exploring mentorship, cultural traditions, and communication as powerful forces of transformation. One notable work from me this semester reflected on Nicholas Gage's story The Teacher Who Changed My Life by connecting his journey of self-discovery through Miss Hurd with my own experience with a high school tutor who helped transform mathematics from being something to fear into being something I greatly enjoyed that has helped define both academic aspirations as well as career ambition.

I conducted research to demonstrate how both Gage's mentor, Miss Hurd, and my tutor (my mathematics tutor), not only provided academic guidance but also spurred personal growth in us both. Miss Hurd helped Gage channel his sorrow into writing while my tutor demonstrated its practical application igniting my desire to study actuarial mathematics further. Furthermore, this project explored their respective mentoring styles alongside themes of resilience, purpose, and the value of support within education systems.

This semester has allowed me to strengthen my ability to draw meaningful connections between texts, integrate multimedia in my work and present ideas more confidently. Part of this progress includes critically engaging with narratives such as Gage's, connecting them back to my experiences both personally and academically; I now see writing as a catalyst for both self-reflection and change.

Looking back on my work for this project, I realize I failed to utilize my time efficiently enough, which affected both the depth and organization of my analysis and ideas. For this paper, synthesising Sherry Turkle and Yo-Yo Ma readings which contained plentiful material but was difficult to organize cohesively within a limited timeframe presented a number of challenges; nevertheless I learned much about empathy's place within human connections during this venture.

My paper examined Turkle and Ma's emphasis on face-to-face communication as an effective method to foster empathy, while Ma believes arts provide universal tools that foster understanding and connection between individuals. Both perspectives offered valuable insight into addressing alienation caused by an increasingly digital environment; however, their arguments could have been further developed with supporting evidence integrated more seamlessly; although I acknowledged Ma's advocacy of arts integration into education while Turkle's critique of technology's shallow connections are important ones, their ideas complement or differ when applied towards solving similar problems more fully developed.

One key lesson from this project has been learning the significance of striking a balance between technology and empathy-driven practices, something I find myself grappling with on an academic and social level. Due to extensive reading and thinking over two to three weeks for this project, this experience taught me the value of slowing myself down while breaking complex ideas down into manageable parts.

Going forward, my goal is to use my time more wisely on similar assignments. By allocating more time for reading, reflecting, and revising, I hope to develop deeper insights and present them more eloquently.

This presentation about the ethical considerations associated with teaching AI to simulate empathy was both challenging and rewarding, giving me insight into its risks and benefits. Although speaking in front of my class was terrifying at times, it proved invaluable for developing my public speaking abilities. Overall I am proud of all that progress I've made so far on this project...

This assignment, The Empathy Diaries Worksheet, focused on exploring Sherry Turkle's ideas about empathy, dialogue, and the impact of technology on interpersonal connections. We identified key concepts, defined terms and answered thought-provoking questions related to Turkle's work.

Attaining 100 points was truly satisfying and affirming my dedication and hard work towards assignments in college. The worksheet challenged my thinking critically about the roles of face-to-face interaction and self-reflection in cultivating meaningful relationships; further strengthening my grasp of how technology both facilitates and inhibits human connection. Reaching 100 marks gave me great pride; further emphasizing its significance. My success reinforced both confidence building as well as importance of investing both time and effort towards assignments.

At my revised paper revision stage, after carefully reading Sherry Turkle and Yo-Yo Ma works again I revised and rewrote many ideas in an attempt to enhance its analysis and clarity. I focused specifically on effectively integrating their perspectives on empathy; with Ma emphasizing arts as universal tool of connection contrasting with Turkle's advocate role for face-to-face conversations.

Revisiting my ideas allowed me to gain a clearer picture of their mutual effects in addressing challenges associated with cultivating empathy in digital times. Though this process required much hard work and critical thought, I feel more assured about my work now, hopeful for an improved grade and reappearing at conferences with renewed optimism for success. Furthermore, this experience taught me the significance of revisiting and revising existing arguments to form stronger and more cohesive arguments.

Getting a 76/100 on my first project gave me the motivation to keep pushing myself to read these amazing stories of the two authors (Sherry Turkle and YoYo Ma)

Over Thanksgiving break, I worked on an abstract I found both enjoyable and straightforward. The paper's primary topic focused on ethical considerations for artificial intelligence systems simulating empathy; its potential advantages and drawbacks; case studies were used extensively as I explored this area; finally arguing for additional safeguards when creating AI solutions.

Astounded at receiving an outstanding evaluation score from Professor Zehala just 30 minutes after submitting my work, this success encouraged and inspired me to approach future assignments with similar enthusiasm and confidence.
