WHAT:Jay Cooke & Company declared bankruptcy when the financing of the construction of a new transcontinental railroad was about to happen.  The panic truly began then. A chain reaction of banks failing was just aiding the rise in panic.
WHEN:During the 1840s and 1870s the railroad boom was coming to an end, therefore people were going to be out of a job.  The Panic of 1873 lasted from 1873 to 1877.
WHERE:The USA and Europe
WHY and How: Due to the over speculation on railroads and the subsequent closing of several banks, the Panic of 1873 began.

This impacted society greatly. WHAT: Also called “stop- watch management,” which divided manufacturing tasks into short, repetitive 
segments and encouraged factory owners to seek efficiency and profitability over any benefits of personal interaction 
WHEN: Early 1900s
WHERE: 
WHY:to have increased industrial efficiency through improvements in human productivity.
HOW: by placing workers in more efficient positions of the industrial process.  Creating a more assembly line production process and able to use women and children because you don't need to know anything to do these types of jobs.

This affected society by creating more jobs for women and children. In the long run, having young children work was a bad time in life. The children were very small and could fix things by climbing in the machines, but some times in lead to fatalities.

By 1886, the KOL had a membership in excess of 700,000. 
WHAT: They had a platform that including many labor workers who had demands that needed to happen including eight-hour workday, equal pay regardless of gender, the elimination of convict labor, and the creation of greater cooperative enterprises with worker ownership of businesses. 
WHEN: From a small presence during the Panic of 1873 to an organization of national importance by 1878 
WEHRE: It was founded in Philadelphia, PA, and become national later.
WHY: to get better working conditions.
HOW: By creating awareness and campaigning for their demands for skilled and unskilled workers.

WHAT: The AFL focused on economic gains for its members.
WHEN: There was 500,000 members by 1900 and grew to 4 million by 1920.
WHERE: Nation wide
WHY: To win economic benefits for their members.
HOW: AFL did this by staying on political issues other than just issues directly impacted upon working conditions. 

This impacted society by creating a Federation to help the labor union get what they deserved.
