I see that D79 Teachers are doing much better than regular NYC DOE HS Teachers.

I see that half of the students taking the regents exam are passing ELA. SS half are passing with a lower average than ELA . In LE 39% of students are passing with a score below 65%. While on the GED students have faired a little better on the same subjects. Jumping to more than half of the students passing with a 70-75% in LE.

I see that RLA in the GED Youth program has the lowest passing percentage of students. The average passing scores are also just at expectations of 145 and not near the college-ready 165. I see that more students are taking the RLA test.

I see that when we had TASC for Adult Education our GED students had a higher passing rate in Writing than Reading.

Independent Question: What I noticed is that in comparison, students are performing better on the Regents than on the GED exam in ELA.

Rates between Regents and GED similar. Regents average score s near passing. GED average score is above passing. Adult Ed significantly lower than HS scores.

Look at what is more successful in the HS setting to apply in AE setting. Students are being nearly as well prepared in both GED and Regents track

The data suggests that a piece is missing in terms of our retention. I believe there is a correlation between this data and our ability to connect with our students and teach students of color and understand where they come from in order to understand how to teach them.
