Short Term Memory (STM)

i. Capacity = Limited capacity, 7 ± 2 chucks/pieces of information

ii. Access = Quick access, but information must be actively rehearsed to be maintained; otherwise, it is easily lost.

iii. Decay = Decays quickly, typically within 15-30 seconds without rehearsal.

Short Term Memory (STM)

i. Capacity = Unlimited

ii. Access = Slower access compared to STM, but information can be retrieved over long periods.

iii. Decay = Information can persist for a long time; however, forgetting can occur due to interference, lack of retrieval, or weakening of neural connections.

- Capacity : 7± chucks/ pieces of information

- Access : Can be accessed rapidly

- Decay : Rapidly (lasts 15 - 30 seconds)

ii) LTM

- Capacity : Infinite

- Access : Less accessible after a long period

- Decay : Years or never
