Action - Journalist doing what he deems to be "virtuous".
Consequence - Serving the public good.

Kantian:
Action - The journalist's distortion of truth. Violated Ferguson's privacy and his freedom (because he was released). Up-playing that he is a child molester.
C.I. - Wrong to distort the truth.

Utilitarianism (Applied framework):
Action - Highlighting the dangers of the pedophile being in the community.
Consequence - Appeasing the community, collective happiness/pleasure for the greatest number by wanting to oust him.

Outcome: Protect the people from a "pedophile".Please the greatest number of people (loyal to the public instead of ONE "pedophile"

Actions (means): Can do anything to achieve the end. Even though breeching someone's privacy is WRONG, not virtuous. Choose to give pleasure to the Masses instead of one individual

Alternate method: Kantians

Actions: Would have respected his privacy (not targeted him, not put his picture with disguises) report facts

Outcome: disappointed public but this does not matter because they reported the facts. (the right thing)

Alternate method: Virtue of Ethics

Outcome: Happiness(for the public/journalist/organization)

Actions: (depend on loyalties)
1. breech his privacy with the intention of being virtuous to the general public (by any means neccessary)
2. Respect his privacy. He is a human too.

"The end justifies the means"
Article's aim seems to be to protect the community, disregarding how Ferguson is being portrayed in the media.

Virtue Ethics
A journalist does what he feels is right
Would therefore warn the community of Ferguson being a potential danger to the community.

Kantian
"Do unto others as you would be done by"
Therefore, if adopting the Kantian framework, the journalist reporting would not have portrayed Ferguson in such a bad light, calling him a "monster", "fiend" without getting their facts right in the first place.
