         <title>Down It Goes</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The rock continues down and down until it reaches the mantle.&nbsp; The pressure is from the denser continental tectonic plate passing above the less dense oceanic plate.&nbsp; This continual pressure to push and push, causes the rocks to keep moving down and becoming smaller. Also, more rocks are passing through the crust as part of the cycle and cause more pressure by piling on top. &nbsp; Since the tectonic plates move so slowly, and a long-distance to the mantle, this step will take thousands of years.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Metamorphic</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Now the rock has reached the Earth’s mantle.&nbsp; Here, the rock is subjected to high heat, intense pressure, hot mineral-rich fluids, or a combination of all of these and becomes metamorphic.&nbsp; Metamorphic rocks are rocks that have undergone a substantial change from their original igneous, sedimentary, or earlier metamorphic form.&nbsp; These rocks most likely will have hornblende in them because Hornblende is a common mineral found in metamorphic rock.&nbsp; This step also takes thousands of years.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The Beginning</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The first part of this story starts with an igneous rock called granite sitting on the surface of the Earth. Granite is a course-grain rock, which consists of larger particles instead of fine-grained small particle rock.&nbsp; The larger particles will prolong the naturally occurring weathering and erosion process that breaks down the rocks into smaller pieces. &nbsp; This process can happen quickly or it can take over thousands of years.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>The Moving</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Through many environmental factors, the rock will eventually move across the Earth’s surface eventually making its way to the ocean.&nbsp; Being in the water is important, because most divergent plate boundaries happen in the ocean, and that is where the rock will eventually be re-routed toward the Earth’s mantle.&nbsp; As a result of this transportation process, the rock will continue to become smaller through erosion movements.&nbsp; This timeline also can happen quickly or over many years.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>The Compacting</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The rock will pass through the crust towards the Earth’s mantle by the tectonic plates moving. The rocks that came together through the movement will be compacted and cemented to form into a new rock. This process creates bigger rocks with more defined parts.&nbsp; The rock is now called sedimentary.&nbsp; It can take thousands to millions of years to be compacted together.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Moving Up and Cooling</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Now the metamorphic rock’s journey is slowly to be pushed up to the Earth’s surface. This journey can take thousands to millions of years. It happens through geologic uplift of the Earth’s surface due to plate tectonics.&nbsp; One example is crust thickening.&nbsp; When the rock reaches the surface, it will be cooled down by the difference in temperatures.&nbsp; The rock will now harden. &nbsp; This process will only take 10 to 15 minutes.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>My rock </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I found my rock behind my garage. I live on a mountain near a lake with a lot of ledge. The area for the garage was blasted with dynamite to build the garage.&nbsp; The exposed rock was brittle and I was able to lift the piece off.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
