For me, it's the parent and student who don't understand why the student can not drive any more. They are so upset so I explain the law for students in school who miss to many days and their drivers license are suspended, how they can get them reinstated, and how to avoid this happening again. I count the days they will need to be in school, inform them they will still be able to drive again. I also show them the attendance of the student in case there is an error or they have a doctor note that really needs to be entered. Most of the students and parents are more at ease when they leave my office or hang up the phone. They know there is a happy ending. Just be positive with they.

Then, as you are helping remembering to always check in with the customer especially if they are waiting and ensuring that you are letting them know you have not forgotten them or the issue at hand and explain the status. If the solution is not able to be solved give other options on how it can if possible be resolved. I try to imagine being a parent or student who is entering the school campus that might not feel comfortable in that situation. I try to make them feel welcome by asking if there is something I can do for them.
