The army that the U.S. had sent was easily defeated.

The war started to end when neither of the sides gained their ground, however,  after the war, it did help bring some long-term peace between Great Britain and the United States. While they gained peace, the U.S. and Great Britain settled a peace treaty called the "Treaty of Ghent", which was signed on December 24th, 1814. The U.S. at the time did not want this because the trade would help benefit the new country, so that U.S. with help sent troops to attack the British colony. Their plan did not go well and had their troops easily destroyed.
