And during the Cuban missle crisis and the bay of pigs, where nuclear war was a large possibility, peace was negotiated , during all of this the cold war was raging, afterwards the assassination of Kennedy made the 60s political world into a strange but important time, overall their were 3 presidents Dwight David Eisenhower, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and Lyndon Baines Johnson which made it even weirder but more important, in addition the importance of the civil rights act which changed the treatment of those seen as second citizens the 60s were wild but without these events the way we see everything would drastically change.

There were many different shows that came up in this time, some of the most popular being, The Flintstones,The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, The Adams Family, Batman, Scooby-Doo, and finally Leave it to Beaver. The comic industry was also booming in this time having it be called the "Silver age of Comics". Many new heroes and villains were being introduces, along with Spider-Man, one of the best known heroes ever created. One very popular Actor in this time period was John Wayne, he starred in the movie "The Searchers" and became extremely famous, along with Steve McQueen starring in, "The Great Escape". Many popular dishes in the 1960s consisted of meatballs with grape jelly, desserts and salads encased in gelatin, and fondue, they made these as snacks, and even full meals. One of the most popular games anyone played in the 1960s was Baseball, it was a loved sport by almost every American and hasn't changed since.

The unemployment rate dropped to 6.7% in 61 and in 69 it was at an all time low of 3.5%. Many people did become concerned about the environment in that time as well and began supporting national parks and preserving land.

The late 1960s were the exact opposite and consisted of colorful, psychedelic hues of colors with long hair and bushy beards. Women often worse short skirts and men wore capes and long tunics. The 1960s were a popular time period for vintage accessories such as scarves, sunglasses, gloves, purses, wigs, jewelry, etc. Colorful and decorative handkerchiefs and bandanas were common. In women, big-hair up style was rather popular and gave the woman the illusion of a longer and smaller face. Other casual styles included the bob, with a variety of hair lengths. Back-combing was also seen specifically with fluffy hairstyles such as the beehive. Flat ironing and hair rolling came to the rise during this time period. Men were usually seen with short, croppy hair. Curly and poofy hair was also a trait generally seen among men.
