CWPT can be beneficial to all students involved. The students being tutored benefit from the extra help, and the students offering the tutoring benefit by teaching the content.
The instruction is more individualized, giving the students more personalized assistance. 
This allows students to be taught by peers who are their same age, which can be beneficial socially. 

Negative aspects:
Time constraints - this isn't something that could be done for every subjects, as time is limited.
Teacher has less control over what is being taught - there is a possibility that the tutor may have some sort of misunderstanding of the content that could impact the student they are tutoring.
