The Printing Press was created by Johannes Gutenberg in 1440 in Germany and is a combination of the Screw Press invented by the Romans and Moveable Type, letter moulds that can be rearranged into words. Prior to the printing press, books were literally hand copied. “Scribe” was a job, often done by monks, where they spent everyday copying books. Book were generally of religious value.
