Both of these books have an interesting journey, where the character learns about themselves and meets new friends on the way. 
The land of stories:
I like that we see characters from the fairy tales we know like the Princesses, little red riding hood and many others. They go on a life changing adventure and learn about their family and the past.
A tale of magic:
She comes froma place of sadness and zero power but her life changes in a short span of time. Brystal goes on an amazing journey meeting new friends and learning what she is capible of. 
Both of these books are amazing and are my favourite books.

Books that implement these categories include the selection series by Kiera Cass which I personally enjoyed for the engaging plot following the protagonist who lives in a future dystopian city where people are divided. Her personality starts as rebellious and stubborn but develops into considerate and passionate through her journey of fulfilling her family's wishes and experiencing relationship difficulties which provoke her decisions as she is selected in a game that can be summarised as "a battle for the prince". It is a fun, suspenseful and engaging read.
