We should remember that the New Deal was a revolution in economic policy in the United States. Actions once thought unthinkable became reality. We should also remember that the New Deal help the American people the the great depression. However we should also remember that the help was not spread equitably among the citizens of the United States and that minority groups, such as African Americans, were not given the same help as white Americans. Additionally not all the efforts of the New Deal worked well, even if they had good intentions behind them. The New Deal does have an effect on our lives today as some of the agencies and acts are still operational today, such as the FCC and SEC.

I think one key takeaway is that most of the New Deal programs generally achieved their goal, but lots of them had controversy/downsides as well. Also, most only lasted around 5-10 years before they were reformed or abolished with the exception of a few programs, but even those are flawed today (for example, the SSA). In addition, it is important to remember that many of these programs did not support minority groups (people of color) and women as much as other historically advantaged groups.

I think an important takeaway about the New Deal is the overall end result, which was to recover the economy and help the people who were unemployed or making less through funds. I think the best program would be the FDIC and SEC because both were very effective. Something interesting I found was that almost ever bill had some sort of controversy surrounding it, no matter what it was. In short term, it was ultimately a success, but in long term much of it was rendered useless with a lot of bills being nullified or reenacted. Nevertheless, it set the grounds and started the pattern of government relief. I think the FSA was the worst because it discriminated against black farmers.

The New Deal had a number of short term programs, with the exception of a few long-lasting ones, that worked to rebuild the country and pull the United States out of an economic crisis after the Great Depression. Many of the New Deal programs were focused on financial security, job production, and long term planning whether it be for farming, or systems like the Social Security Act. Not every program was meant to succeed, but FDR wanted to try all things that were possible in hopes of repairing the country and creating stability.

Best Program: The FDIC or the SEC. Both were programs that provided a great amount of financial security, with the FDIC insuring banks, and the SEC protecting investors, they both have a great positive impact on the current economy, and have prevented many economic crises that could have shaken the country yet again.

Worst Program: FHA. The Federal Housing Administration was very discriminatory against minorities and prevented them from purchasing property. Thus, the program did not work for everyone and prevented any form of generational wealth through assets.

Many of the programs, however, either weren't completely successful, or were successful but then were short lived. Many also further contributed to racial inequality.

The best program in my opinion was probably the FDIC, because it provided good financial security and ended up being a success.

As for the worst program, the FHA and the FSA both made racial injustice worse, and even if they were somewhat successful, the overall result made them some of the worst.

We should remember that the new deal helped not only farmers and industrial workers make it through tough times, but also offered opportunities for artists and educators, an often ignored and disregarded strata. People are now evaluated based on the profitability and scientific applications of their occupation, the cultural fields are underpaid and left to fend for themselves by the government. The New Deal proves that civilization can support all workers, and only benefits from it.

However, of course, not all were accepted, and people opposed some, though it would seem most were able to pass at last for a period of time. It created new accomplishments, helped the economy, and helped people who were struggling to provide money for themselves or their family.

The new deal had many amazing accomplishments, but most agencies did not fulfill their promise or if they did, they were later gutted by new legislation. The agency I looked at for example, the NLRA, was very successful after it was passed as it increased union rates and made working conditions better. However, after the Reagan Administration it was almost completely gutted which horribly weakened unions. Some of the best programs seemed to be the AAA or the CCC but the worst had to be FERA or Social Security due to how controversial it is now

I think we should remember that, at the end of the day, the New Deal was really a way to throw stuff at the wall and see what stuck. The government needed to fix the economic disaster that was unfolding, and the New Deal was what they thought was the best way. Of course, the New Deal had major flaws (racist zoning, grouping black people into projects as opposed to the suburbs where white Americans were grouped), however, there were certain acts and agencies that have proven to be long term successes for the American people. While a flawed and experimental system, we must remember the state of the nation at that time, the tools they were working with, and how they eventually managed to bring the country out of a massive recession successfully.

I think the best program was the FDIC, as it basically solved one of the biggest flaws in the American banking system at the time, and allowed for renewed trust in the American economy, something that was critical at that time.

I think the worst program was the AAA, because of the very workaround manner in which they funded the farms, which of course ended up benefitting the landowners far, far more than those who really needed the money more, who were the sharecroppers.

I feel that for at the time the New Deal programs were necessary to a least relieve parts of the American economy. I think that we should remember that without these plans the morale of most American citizens would have worsened, perhaps leading to an extension in the Great Depression. The New Deal Programs were also necessary to prepare America going into WWII, this was through providing workers with ample skills with construction, organization, and innovation.
