         <description><![CDATA[<div>Integration of Core Competencies<br>-monthly and weekly reflections <br>-direct teaching <br>-we constantly refer to them and kids are using the language<br><br>Makers Faire<br>-design and create complex machines to do with simple daily tasks and market it<br>-design and make beyblades<br><br>Thoughts from Report Cards<br>-Loved the new format of the report cards<br>-Parent Voice piece was awesome. What shifts have you made in your assessment practices? <br>- much more diligent with FreshGrade and add more specific comments that pertain to the curriculum <br>- better observational notes<br>- capture quotes from children <br>- portfolio (hardcopy) dabbling in FreshGrade<br>- still using C - but shifts have been driven by MakersSpace <br>- more observing and listening <br>- not going in with the answer I want <br>- noticing emergent curriculum <br>- student self-reporting <br>- facilitator as opposed to “shoving knowledge” on them <br>- Report Cards- Parent reflections, ELL parents were able to write (offered to help but no one took it) glad I included it. Had parents in to translate for their child<br>- using labels or post-it notes for quick observations <br>- post-it binders with competencies in mind <br>- shifting to looking for the good behaviours<br><br>How do you integrate Indigenous education? <br>- “Learning involves patience and time”  <br>- “Learning is embedded in memory, history, and story”<br>- using picture books <br>- acknowledge the aspects that are embedded into our daily practice (sitting in a circle, acting out stories, reading a story in two parts, embedding the students’ stories into their art)<br>- weaving <br>- Indigenous education is community oriented - looking inward <br><br>How do you teach self-regulation?<br>- talking about keeping out minds and our bodies still “quiet”<br>- situational conversations <br>- music <br>- relaxational exercices<br>- zones of regulation<br>- quiet area<br>- extra support in transitions <br>- helping them become aware of their challenges <br>- walking through the problem - solving the problems <br>- using words to solve problems <br>- keeping our bodies calm as an example for the students <br><br>How do you integrate technology? <br>- documentation (pictures, videos, voice recording)<br>- videos for language (songs, stories) <br>- projector to share and whole class games <br>- brain breaks (Go Noodle, Just Dance)<br>- iPad with apps <br>- going with buddies to the computer lab<br>- document projector (math game, books) <br><br>Share two stars and a wish for your class? <br>- Stars: Strong sense of community &amp; effective use of using the Zones of Regulation / Wish: I want to help my student make friends (supporting the parents - play dates, play at the playground) <br>- Stars: Their creativity, and great imaginations / Wish: We continue to work on self regulation <br>- Stars: They’re very focused and curious (risk takers) / Wish: For them to continue to look from other children’s perspectives <br>- Stars: They’re so creative and imaginative / Wish: We need to continue work on being kind to one another. <br><br></div>]]></description>
