1. Plan a Weekend Trip Away

During Christmas break, I stayed in Oxford for 2 nights and it was a nice little break to look forward to but it also meant that I didn’t fall behind on work. I also feel like little breaks make the rest of the break a lot easier to focus because you’ve had a break already or you’re looking forward to one!

2. Don’t Spend too Much Time Planning

One of my problems is that I can spend so much time planning, looking for flights and the best price hotel which leads to me falling behind on work before I’ve even left! So, maybe just spend time looking in your work breaks, take recommendations from friends or go where you have been before! Skyscanner and hotels.com are a life saver and basically do all the hard searching for you, check them out!

Some of my best trips away have been last minute, when a friend and I have realised we don’t have much work to do that weekend and we find a cheap hotel– as they just want to get rid of the room! If you can get to an airport, you can pretty much find last second available rooms for even half the price.

I had 6 weeks off for Christmas, which was plenty of time to do my uni work, pick up extra job hours and travel! I went to New York the year before because this time was sooo long, plus – it made me do all my work before Christmas, so I had a week to fully chill.

In November last year whilst dissertation researching, my Boyfriend and I went to London for 3 days. This wasn’t much for my research, but he was researching into London Victorian Pubs for his dissertation – so between exploring London we were actually doing work!

I know this was meant to be work planning help, but honestly, what keeps me going through the stressful semesters is a planned trip. Trust me, right now sat in this Library for hours every-day I am dying to me sat on a beach! I also really like that I spend 20 mins of my work break looking for clothes and things to do, it’s so nice to have something to look forward to a reward yourself for all your hard work.
