A CPU is the main processor in a computer. It converts electrical signals into binary. A CPU communicates between all the components of a computer telling each what do.

The Three basic parts of a CPU are:
The Control unit: The part that controls the input and output of other devices.
The arithmetic logic unit: Does all the working out such as mathematical calculations and decision making.
The Cache: is the memory which a CPU has available programs and data.
ALU: The digital circuit used to perform arithmetic and logical operations.

Processor is measured in Hertz, usually processors have speeds of GHz.

One Hz is one cycle per second, One Giga Hz is a billion cycles per second.

Used for short-term memory/calculations. It is cleared every time the computer is turned on/off

Ram is volatile memory meaning it deletes when the computer turns off 

Ram is measured in gigabytes currently

RAM affects running speed by  allowing the computor to acces recent calculatiion so that it does have to do it repeatedly
