Object-oriented programming is based on the concept of objects. In object-oriented programming data structures, or objects are defined, each with its own properties or attributes. Each object can also contain its own procedures or methods. Software is designed by using objects that interact with one another.
Object-oriented programming is a programming paradigm built on the concept of objects that contain both data and code to modify the data. Object-oriented programming mimics a lot of the real-world attributes of objects. ... Simula and Smalltalk are the first languages widely regarded as being object-oriented

1. A Brief History of Oriented Programming
Many people feel that OOP is a result of Bjarne Stroustrup's efforts in bringing the C language into the object-oriented world by establishing the C++ language in the 1980s. The two oldest object-oriented languages are SIMULA 1 (1962) and Simula 67 (1967). Ole-John Dahl and Kristen Nygaard of the Norwegian Computing Center in Oslo, Norway, worked on the Simula languages. While most of the benefits of OOP were available in previous Simula languages, OOP didn't take off until C++ became widely used in the 1990s.

2. Evolution of Object Oriented Programming Language

These programming approaches, like computer hardware, have gone through revolutionary stages. The machine language was first used to create small and simple programs. The Assembly Language was then introduced, which was used to create larger applications. Machine and Assembly languages are both depending on the machine. Then came the Procedural Programming Approach, which allowed us to write code with hundreds of lines. Then, in 1970, a new programming approach known as Structured Programming Approach was created for creating medium-sized programs. Because the size of programs continued to grow in the 1980s, a new approach known as OOP was developed.
