2- On August 1st, we celebrate Emancipation Day. Emancipation Day is important because it marks the day when the bill for the abolition of slavery was passed for Jamaica. To celebrate this day, Jamaicans traditionally keep vigils on the day before (July 31) and at midnight the church bells would ring and drums would be played in public squares and parks to act out the first time the Africans were freed from slavery.

2. A tradition practiced in Jamaica is the celebrating of Jamaica’s independence on 6th of August annually. There are many events that take place on this day but the main event is Grand Gala that is held at the National Stadium. At this event the entertainment and performing arts sector is displayed on a wide scale. Grand gala celebrates our rich and vibrant culture as well as the many people who have contributed to it. Legacies that are left behind are also appreciated and celebrated. Grand Gala is always the event that is most looked forward to on August 6th every year. 🇯🇲

2. A tradition in Jamaica is the 'Nine Night'. This is celebrated when a person passes away and on the ninth night after their death, a gathering is held. At the Nine Night, there is usually alcohol and other beverages as well as food. The food is usually soup, fish and bread, curry goat and white rice or all of the above. This tradition is for the sending off of the individual's spirit and there is usually dancing, singing and pure enjoyment as Caribbean people do not believe in being too sad for too long.

2.A tradition in Jamaica is our food , On Sundays, there is a 99.99% chance that most Jamaicans cook rice and peas for dinner. I am still determining how it came about, but rice and peas for Sunday is just a Jamaican thing. But rice and peas isn’t eaten only on Sundays. It is also the most common Jamaican lunch meal.

Hello there👋, I'm from Jamaica🇯🇲, and music, particularly reggae, has made a significant contribution to our culture. This easy flowing rhythm causes a spark in your bones, influencing you to rock subconsciously, giving you a sense of freedom, and is popular in the Caribbean. Bob Marley is a well-known musician who popularized this genre to the rest of the world by introducing songs like “Redemption Song”, "Could You Be Loved", “One Love”, and "Get Up Stand Up”. This new found beat not only makes you feel alive in your sprint, but is also important as it tells a story of our past that helps to inspire those of the future with words of wisdom, allowing you to feel calm and connected.

Hi 👋, I am Gabrielle and I am from the island of Barbardos 🇧🇧 One tradition that we have is Crop Over Festival. This is a festival that came about as a reminder of the islands past on the plantations during the years of slavery and was originally used to celebrate the end of the Crop Season. In todays generation, it consists of things such as week long parades with very colorful and creative costumes. Crop Over is an festival that showcases the delicious Bajan cuisine and the vibrant Bajan music 🎶 and many more. These celebrations can start as early as May and go on until August. In August, we have what is called the "Grand Kadooment Day" and this marks the last day if the Crop Over festivities. This year (2024) Crop Over is scheduled to begin on July 31st and end on August 6th.

One notable tradition in Jamaica is the celebration of “Junkanoo.” It’s a vibrant and colorful festival marked by parades, music, dance, and elaborate costumes, usually held around Christmas and New Year’s. Jonkonnu is a parade that is done during the Christmas season in Jamaica. Parades are led through communities as each character performs. My favorite character is Pitchy Patchy as he is very acrobatic. Other characters include: Police man, Big belly women and Actor boy. The parade often times scares young children.

2. On January 6, Mexico celebrates the festivity known as “Día de los Reyes” or “Three Kings’ Day.” This celebration is in honor of the three wise men or Magi who visited baby Jesus to present him with gifts. Another important aspect of the celebration is the giving of gifts.

I am African American some thing my people do is come together to do cook out cooking soul food and listen to old r&B and electric side while the old men play cards and horseshoe the lady dance laughing just having a good time.

one tradition we celebrate is El dia de los Reyes Magos, Along with Christmas and New Year's on January 6th is also celebrated as part of the holiday season in Puerto Rico. According to Catholic tradition, the Three Wise Men (in Spanish, los Tres Reyes Magos) visited baby Jesus in the manger to deliver gifts.
