The first event of the Children's Festival funded programme got off to a great start with 141 children attending a fun-packed event with their parents and siblings in Haverfordwest for Halloween.

The volunteer has to complete a bursary form (it is also the booking form), which I have attached in case you want to forward it on. We can accept 2 people per organisation per course, and if this date is not suitable please do encourage the volunteer to complete the form and return it to me as they can go on the list for the next course (there is also a course being organised in Tenby but no dates as yet). The form asks for ‘signatures’ but these can be electronic.

Emergency First Aid at Work

Suitable for those already working or for those preparing to work. It is also suitable for those who have responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities. This course aims to enable the learner to understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider, also to assess and administer initial first aid in an emergency situation. A Level 3 Award is available on successful completion of this course. Learners are required to be 16 or over.

The GSK IMPACT Awards provide funding, training and development. They are judged by a prestigious panel of judges and give national recognition for the winning charities. Up to 15 awards will be made, ranging from £4,000 to £50,000. In addition, the training and development is valued at a further £13,500. Organisations will also receive help with press and publicity, be given a set of promotional materials and receive pro bono offers from GSK.

This September, we will be hosting a Special Community Boat trip along the river, to share ideas, meet local experts and enjoy the estuary in all its natural beauty. 

We would like to hear from anyone who has done anything, from litter picking and balsam bashing, to local history experts and bird counters, from water and wildlife monitors to woodland managers. 

Anyone who connects their community to the river or does anything to protect its wildlife, please get in touch via our website – you can nominate yourself or someone else to join us aboard this special Cleddau cruise in September.
