His speech advocated bimetallism. After he gave his speech, the Coinage Act was passed, and the US abandoned its policy of bimetallism.

Wounded Knee- December 29th, 1890

This was the last significant engagement between the American Indians and the US Army. The US Army killed more than 200 unarmed Sioux men, women, and children.

Homestead Act Enacted- May, 1862

Promised land to whoever was willing to move westward if they built a railroad, and dug a well. This act also arose conflict with the American Indians in the west.

Treaty of Ft. Laramie is signed- April 29th, 1868

Dawes General Allotment Act is passed- February, 1887

this was significant because the government tried getting the indians to split up from the tribe by promising them land and citizenship which only made the indians mad that they couldn't be together as a tribe.

The Transcontinental railroad is completed- May 10th, 1869

This was significant because it opened a new way of transportation to move goods to and from places that were farther away, faster.
