The main characteristic of the 3rd conditional is that the events happened or not in the PAST, but, in the present we live the consequences.

FORMULA:

If + past perfect + would have+ p.pv. (3) + complement.

EXAMPLES:

-If I had saved more money, I wouldn't have troubles buying my house today.

-If they had invited me to the party, I wouldn't have gone any way. ;)

e can use different modal when we use the 3rd conditional.

-Could (Possibilities 80%)

-Might (Less possibilities 20%)

-Would (The most common)

EXAMPLES:

-If I had trained harder, I could have won the race.

-If my classmate has explained the problem, I might have helped him.
