I had my original television ad ready which included some facts about mental health to add towards the end however, last week I decide to re-edit and do it again. I prefer this cleaner version compared to the other before because I have shown it to a few people in the class and they have said it makes sense and does look like a charity appeal advert. In my original advert, I also planned to have a main actor as the focus however, this didn't end up happening which put me back a few days so I had to resort to my back up plan which was just recording the public and tourist areas around London.

I also did my interactive ad. I used a short spoken word poem that I ended up writing myself - originally, I had someone else to do this but it didn't go through and time was roughly ending so I ended up doing a last minute one and getting a few of the boys in my class and myself, to record a voice over which I added. This turned out a lot better than I thought and I am happy with the outcome of how it is.

WHAT WENT WELL:

WHAT DIDN'T GO WELL & WHY: 
  1. the actors that didn't appear in my ad (due to timing)

WHAT HAVE I LEARNT THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS: 

Advertising wasn't the easiest thing to produce even with the amount of time we've had this term. The pre-production stuff was pretty easy as I chose to do something I am quite familiar with which is charity adverts. I looked for inspiration all over YouTube such as different adverts and facts on different charity websites. I focused on mental health. 

I planned this to be filmed within a day with an actor however, during production time this didn't happen and it ended up putting me back a few days. I had to resort into my back up plan which was to go to central London area such as Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Sq etc. and film the most crowded places with a lot of attraction. The idea I had for was that I was going to center my actor in the middle of these crowded places and have a dramatic time lapse of him, looking quite sad and tired; physically and emotionally. I was going to add the voice over in this television advert but decided to save it for the interactive one which now looking at it, I am happy I made that decision. 

What I learnt throughout this is that whenever it comes to filming, I must always have a back up plan in case actors fail to make promises and commitment and I have to do something else that isn't going to be last minute. Pre Production research is very helpful especially if it involves looking at different television adverts and gaining idea from them.

I worked with Kris, Anika and Sam and we came up with a product based on a golden mask that we got given. 

At first, it was quite hard to come up with an idea and we went through different names and ideas - some that weren't really realistic. 

The idea that we came up with eventually was that our mask become a home Botox kit for women ages 35 - 70 years old; a cheaper alternative to actually getting Botox in clinics that cost a lot of money whereas our product retailed at £50.99. We called the product "YoUth" and our slogan for the product was "emphasis the u in youth". 

As part of our advertising, we had to come up with a 30 second advert that we filmed less than a week and edited. I took part as being the camera person and editing the advert, Anika was one of our actress but also created our presentation as you can see below, Kris being an actor - their roll being to show off our product. Sam edited and was in charge of the equipment so, everyone pretty much had a roll. 

When researching on our product, we had to look at our target audience, the demographics of how our product will apply and making sure that goes well with our advert. I went onto the ASA website and researched on the different codes that we have to comply by for example the code that I thought would be relevant for our product would be, recognition of the advert under the code, 2.4 and 2.4.1.]]> 2017-06-08 14:39:26 UTC https://padlet.com/14072695/su68x4rwsap3/wish/175743951 FEEDBACK ON OUR PRODUCT 14072695 https://padlet.com/14072695/su68x4rwsap3/wish/175744337 When we presented our product to Howard, we got given feedback; overall it was a good presentation and advertisement however, we could of changed a few things such as:

- the music choice for the advert. rather than making it poppy and upbeat (especially for a beauty product), we could of used instrumental and made it slow, smooth and calming to link to the product that we are selling. 
- our target audience was a bit too wide: shortening the audience and keeping it limited. 
- introduction to the male target audience; come to a different approach because in our advert, it was randomly thrown in rather than giving a purpose.

We went through examples in the lesson using a picture and file already on the computer saved under a Media folder 2016/2017. 

How to get a ribbed glass effect on photoshop: 
  1.  find a random picture ; could be anything.
  2.  open a new file that's blank.
  3.  find the factor of how much the picture is for example: factor of 2000 is 80 (something that multiples to get 2000) 
  4.  after you find the factor, you select the blank file and make a column.
  5. you then click on the gradient skill and make sure the selection is set on a colour, for this example we used black and white. 
  6.  you can drag the selection to fill it in with the colour from left to right, up and down or diagonally. it just depends your preferences. 
  7.  you then use the short keys - here is where it comes in handy (ctrl + art + t ) and then press enter key twice.
  8.  you duplicate the selection until you are done.
  9.  you then make sure that ripped glass effect is set to greyscale and then save the file.
  10. go back to the photo and then select the filter tab > distort > displace. this will bring up your files and you select on the effect you created. 

Some of the short keys/ terms we learnt today:
ctrl + alt + t = gets a small triangle at the top of the bar, you adjust it to whatever the factor you got and then press the enter button twice to confirm. 
ctrl + alt + = zoom.
ctrl + shift + alt + t = duplicates the selected layer
filter > distort > displace 
gradient scale toolbar
image > greyscale

We used the same picture from last lesson and used the ribbed glass effect again but improved it. Today's lesson was all about making a pattern and learning how to apply it on anything for future purposes. 

Creating A Pattern: 

  1.  from last lesson, get the black and white ribbed effect.
  2.  press ctrl a to select it all, then ctrl t to transform it.
  3.  at the toolbar at the top where it shows you the width and height etc, there is a link icon to link both together - click on it. 
  4.  change the numbers to 210 on width and height and then on the angle toolbar, change it to 2.5. this will turn the image on its side. 
  5.   press the enter bar twice to confirm your changes and save this into your files.
  6.  go back on the picture and apply your changes by going on the toolbar, select filter - distort - displace. this would open a window where you have your files, click on the saved file of the effect. 

now to add the similar effects that the MDNA album has such as the colours and text.

  1. on the toolbar on the left side on Photoshop, select on the rectangle bar (this is under the black arrow)
  2. this will open up a pop up tab that you need to change (this does depend on what you are doing) but for this example it was on 80 and 2000. 
  3. move it to fit the image
  4. back onto the toolbar, go to the paint bucket and select it. again, a pop up tab will come , press ok. 
  5. on the colour icons (the little squares at the bottom that automatically on black and white) press it and play with the colours. change it to what you prefer and you can repeat this step. 
  6. when you are done with the colours add in your text. 

PATTERN FOR YOUR OWN TEXT. 
creating a pattern for your own text is a useful skill because you can be creative and different and it'll help you in the future for creating different designs and patterns because the Photoshop doesn't have everything on it. sometimes, you'll have to download or buy it. 

  1. go onto the text tool and write TKNQZ (or whatever)
  2. open a new document on Photoshop.
  3. set the settings to pixels - 16 x10 
  4. zoom into the image to get it big and select half of it. this should give you a small measurement - 8 x 10 
  5. go back onto the text in the previous file and go onto fx button at the bottom right of the page. 
  6. press it and select your pattern that you created.

This advert is targeted at 13 - 19 year olds. As far as my work comes along, I have started the filming production from the 3rd of novemeber. I decide to base my advert around London showing the chaotic side of the busy street vs the silence of the mental health and how a lot of young people suffer. My campaign for this is called "Fight The Silence" for a Thoughtful Production.  

For this task, I am working alone which so far has been going pretty well. I went online and looked at different ideas I could create on photoshop and found a little video on how to do pixel art. I then googled different picture of what would relate more to my mental health ad and I resulted into doing a pixel fist and adding my logo over the top.

To make a text jump out the picture you will need to: 

  1. get a picture (i chose the joker from the dark knight) 
  2. change the picture from colour to black and white. 
  3. add the text : i wrote his famous line from the movie "why so serious?" and changed it from black text to white.
  4. duplicate the layers of the text
  5. double click on both layers of the text and write on each one what colour you want it to be : so the bottom layer of the text i wrote "blue" and the top "red"
  6. double click on the layers on the right side to bring up layer style box. 
  7. on the box, under "advancing balance" there are these tiny boxes with the letters R G B.
  8. depending on which text you made blue/red visa versa - you tick and untick the R G B boxes.
  9. after that, you shift it left (FOR IT TO STAND OUT) and if you shift it to the right (BACKWARDS). adjust this until; you have the text standing out.

I chose these places because of the contrast and the urban setting that it had. 

    Canary Wharf is known to be a business area, booming businesses and I wanted that to be different from Hackney/Brick lanes, specifically Regent's Canal.  The contrast from a busy, workplace that is designed for people in suits to go to an open place filled with vibrant colours and people.
