The disease was carried across the silk roads and would infect others in that area, the plague traveled far from Europe to other countries such as Asia and North America, the first victims of the Black Death were overcome with fever, unable to keep food down, and delirious from pain. It was primarily an overland trading route.
The East-West trade routes between Greece and China began to open during the first second centuries B.C The Roman Empire.
Chinese goods were carried overland until the goods reached the eastern end of Mediterranean Sea. Finally, the goods were loaded on Italian ships. and sold the city states.
The overland journey was slow and hard but once in sea, the journey was fast and easy.
Trade along the so-called silk road economic belt included fruit and vegetables, livestock, grain, leather and hides stool, religious  objects, artwork, precious stones and metals and perhaps more importantly, language, culture, religious beliefs, philosophy and science
