How can Someone Develop an Eating Disorder?

Social media is usually the prime origin for an eating disorder, the constant and harsh beauty standards portrayed in the media can immediately create dissatisfaction in someone's body image. This dissatisfaction with body image creates unhealthy eating habits for not just adolescent girls, but boys aswell. A study said that 44% of teen girls believed they were overweight and 60% were actively trying to lose weight even though most of the girls in the study were at a normal and healthy weight. Overall, children and teenagers are comparing themselves to the people they see online or even in person. These beauty standards are unreasonable and are negatively impacting how we view ourselves and eachother.

They can be jealous and/or uncomfortable when eating in groups. In some cases, someone can become envious of their friends/family and start to sabotage and isolate themselves from these relationships.

Of course! Mental health is a huge part of your day-to-day life. Having poor mental health creates a struggle to interact with friends and family, go to work or school, and live in general. Being resilient to hardships and making sure we work on ourselves plays a big factor in the way we live and perceive life. Resilience provides us with the strength we need to keep going. So yes, I think everyone should prioritize themselves and their well-being.
