Other things also connect both of these books, from a character developing to the whole reason of the journey. Both books happen because of the same thing. In Hatchet, Brian is traveling by plane to visit is father in Canada, while Charlotte is traveling by ship to meet up with her family (including her father) in the United States. Brian's plane crashes in the middle of the forest, and he has to adapt to the harsh environment. Charlotte has to change to be able to survive the horrible experience on board the Seahawk. They both undergo massive character developments. Charlotte goes from being a young, elitist, high-class girl to becoming tougher, and being one with the crew. She even goes as far as to cut off her hair, which was the last resemblance to her past. She changed massively so far in the book, and it hasn't finished yet. Brian also undergoes many changes. He starts off in the book as a boy filled with anger, frustration, and vulnerability, as well as a reliance on others. He changes, though, as the book progresses. He starts to get a feel for nature, while he is stranded in it. He gets more self-dependent, patient, and learns to control his temper as he realizes anger and negativity will not help his current situation or his previous one. He also starts to see mistakes as an opportunity, advancing from them instead of dwelling on them. All in all, these two books are about survival, and the characters are put in their situation for the same reason: family. The main characters/protagonists undergo massive changes in their characters, changing from more negative character traits to positive ones. If Charlotte reads this book, she will be able to learn about how she must feel to be able to survive on the Seahawk. And everyone has to work together to get out of the situation. It also has the main character framed/blamed for something they did not do which make them lose everyones trust. The character has to improve on unfamiliar skills if they want any chance at surviving. Both books also show changes in perspective and character growth and both characters become more empathetic to others towards the end. This series is a young adult series about a group of six kids called the Flock. There is the leader, Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman and Angel. These kids are 98% human and 2% avian who were created in a lab called the School. The reason I would recommend this book to Charlotte is because I believe she would be able to relate to it in some way. Personally, the Flock reminds me of the crew on the Seahawk. Both these parties are doing their best to break free from their enemies. For the crew, it is Captain Jaggery. For the Flock, it is the School. Both the Flock and the crew have gone through many tragedies because of their mortal enemies. They've been worked to the bone, unable to get their revenge. The Flock were mistreated because they were a little different, outcast because they weren't like the others and because they were considered dangerous just like how the crew was treated like rubbish by the Captain. The Captain treated the crew like his own puppets, like the School did with the Flock. Charlotte and Angel (member of the Flock) played a similar role. They were both the youngest members of the crew, and were both traitors to their friends. Before Charlotte knew the Captain's true colors and was officially  part of the crew, she was the Captain's secret spy who would spend time with the crew and then would report everything to the Captain. She was later revealed to be the spy by the Captain himself. Like Charlotte, Angel had been helping the Flock's enemy, the School. Though the Maximum Ride series has nothing to do with sailing, the crew(including Charlotte) and the Flock go through similar events in a way. The Flock want the chance to live a normal and peaceful life like how the crew wish to be sailors without all the abuse they face. I would also say that Max (Flock leader) and Charlotte face a lot of pressure from their team because the crew's plan to expose Captain Jaggery relies on Charlotte just how the Flock's plan always relies on Max to be ready for anything. Max and Charlotte are both brave and sort of unpredictable. The girl that had joined the crew had come from a town that was raided, which isn't like Charlotte much, but in the beginning, like Charlotte, The girl was not helpful and only sat there. And after the first few days, also like Charlotte, the girl was passionate about understanding the situation and knowing how to run the ship and help the crew so she could reach her destination. Though not exactly like Charlotte, I think that Charlotte will enjoy the book because both girls were stuck in a situation where they had to start working hard or else they would probably die.

In Michelle explains her opinions on many things about woman for example women shouldn’t be treated differently, and that woman can do what men do.

I think this will be very empowering on charlotte because she’s working in a crew full of men and there isn’t many girls who are trying to become part of a crew. Even captain Jaggery said “Have you ever seen a woman working on a sea-hawk before?”. So to me, I think this would open a new world for charlotte because she has been taught to act very lady like, and not be herself and she was also taught that woman shouldn’t work, and that they should stay home and do the house chores. Another quote in the book was 
“You don’t have to act different to be someone important. You’re important in your on right.”

Then during the storm alex almost gets killed with bullets flying at from every direction for Charlotte I would say well the storm must have been like that. And after every thing Alex does for MI6 they just leave him and keep recriuting him for Charlotte

- girls her age that,
- get "kidnapped" and embark on on a great adventure.
Now that was very general but in the books Sophie always wanted to be one of the ones that were kidnapped and become a princess in a story book (every 4 years 2 people are kidnapped from their town one for good and one for bad they get taken to a school for good or evil and become all the characters in famous stories such as cinderella; their town is inescapable). Agatha her friend doesn't care but she has been called a witch her whole life due to her looks so suspected she'd be taken. Then, funny enough Sophie goes to the evil school (Sophie's expectations are equal to Charlotte's) and Agatha to the good (the schools in this analogy are equal to "The Seahawk"). Now they obviously think its some mistake and Sophie will do anything to get to the other school with the pretty girls that look like her and her fairytale prince and Agatha hates it (soon you find out it's just because of her insecurities). So they try to change schools but the magic doesn't allow that (much like when Charlotte threw a hissy fit not wanting to get on).  Then instead of trying to befriend the people in their school they loathe everyone there only wanting to move to the opposing schools (just like Charlotte not liking any of the crewmates) they eventually make enemies (like Charlotte eventually made of the crewmates). Sophie eventually starts to loathe Agatha as Agatha starts to fit it into her school for princesses and Sophie realizes that she's evil (kind of like when Charlotte realized that she had been on the wrong side, and started to not hate the crewmates even going as far as to befriend them, similar to when Sophie decided after many trials and tribulations to befriend her evil roommates after realizing they are similar after all). ]]> 2021-03-24 08:04:43 UTC https://padlet.com/ahodge5/su1n88w9rjmcl2rf/wish/1346755650 Aditya - Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief 2026adityak https://padlet.com/ahodge5/su1n88w9rjmcl2rf/wish/1354489097 I would recommend the Percy Jackson series to Charlotte. Out of all the books in the series, I will be talking about the first one which would be Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief. In the book, Percy Jackson has to rely on his instincts to survive. This relates to how Charlotte has to be smart and choose which side she is on. She has to survive in all the chaos with Captain Jaggery. In the book, Percy realizes that he is a half god and a half human. Percy has to go to Camp Half Blood and change his lifestyle. This can be compared to the change Charlotte had when getting aboard the ship. They both have to change themselves and adapt to the new place. Percy has friends on his journey which are Grover and Annabeth. They go on quests to defeat monsters. He also develops enemies, which used to be his friends that ended up betraying him like Luke. Charlotte also had a friend who was Captain Jaggery, which ended up being a villain. In this book, Percy is accused of stealing Zeus's master bolt when he didn't. This is like how Charlotte got framed for the murder of Mr. Hollybrass when it wasn't her. I believe Captain Jaggery had killed Mr. Hollybrass. In Percy Jackson, it was Luke who stole the lightning bolt. He did it during the winter solstice since he was being controlled by the evil titan, Kronos. Kronos was buried in the depths of Tartarus in the underworld many years ago, but got out. He uses people's emotions to help him. Percy Jackson has to fight for the bolt and also prove his loyalty to the gods by presenting it to them. This is like Charlotte has to prove her loyalty to the crew. No one trusts Percy, the same way no one trusts Charlotte. Even after Charlotte climbed the rigging, the crew didn't side up with her. The same thing even happened with Percy. Even though, he knew nothing about the gods yet and Poseidon didn't even claim him as his son yet. They still believed it was him who stole the bolt before he knew anything. If Charlotte reads this book, it will help her understand that she is not the only one who goes through these situations and the book will be relatable. She will become more calm and also learn more techniques to dealing with situations like these. This book will also give Charlotte time to not think about the things that are happening on the ship. The book talks about a true story of a 24-hour period on Everest, when members of three separate expeditions were caught in a storm and faced a battle against hurricane-force winds, exposure, and the effects of altitude, which ended in the worst single-season death toll in the peak's history. I think that Charlote may find this book intresting because it is adventurs but in a way reflects what she is forced to go through. Which terrible storms, and harsh winds, and several deaths and mysteries, o think that she would be able to relate to the characters of Into Thin Air.

Told through the eyes of Scout Finch, you learn about her father Atticus Finch, an attorney who hopelessly strives to prove the innocence of a black man unjustly accused of rape; and about Boo Radley, a mysterious neighbor who saves Scout and her brother Jem from being killed.
The book touches on topics of race, and childhood incoents. I think that Charlotte might find this book interesting as In a way reflects what she could never have.  A Childhood. I think that by understanding what the 3 main characters have to go though charlotte choudl learn how to be a child again.
