To me, the word cultivate reflects the way SF Day nurtures and fosters growth—deliberately and thoughtfully—of the minds, spirits, and curiosity of everyone who passes through its doors. From the children who begin their journey in kindergarten, to the teachers, staff, and volunteers, it takes time, understanding, and compassion from all to support and nourish this growth.

So much of what we do is grounded in helping students learn to develop their own perspectives and to understand others' perspectives. Whether it is performing "hands-on hands" in Kindergarten, or resolving conflicts with restorative conversations, students learn to appreciate that everyone's perspective is unique and valued. Appreciating all perspectives is also carefully crafted in the curriculum. From debates about the Dakota Pipeline in fourth grade to middle schoolers viewing The Outsiders from the perspectives of different characters, there are many opportunities for students to consider the world from different vantage points.
