HIV is a virus that attacks the CD4 cells, the T-cells inside the immune system which can result in a lot of the CD4 cells in the body to be destroyed. Because of this, a person can acquire AIDS. A person with AIDS is very vulnerable to cancer and to life-threatening infections, such as pneumonia.
