         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the 1980s and 1990s, the outbreak of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency virus (AIDS) swept through the United States and the rest of the world. <br><br>HIV is a virus that attacks the CD4 cells, the T-cells inside the immune system which can result in a lot of the CD4 cells in the body to be destroyed. Because of this, a person can acquire AIDS. A person with AIDS is very vulnerable to cancer and to life-threatening infections, such as pneumonia. <br><br>There is no cure for HIV or AIDS.</div>]]></description>
