The behavioral theory is a motivation theory that rewards act as strong motivators because consequences can guide our actions. This theory suggests that our actions are guided by positive or negative consequences, weather it is a reward or punishments. Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivators play a big part in this theory because rewards become positive consequences that guide our actions and encourage a repeat of the behavior to receive satisfaction and that satisfaction from being rewarded motivates.

Extrinsic Motivation: Behavior driven by external rewards or punishments

Intrinsic Motivation: The undertaking of an activity for its inherent satisfaction.

Social theory explains that we are social beings and our relationships will affect our motivation. Interactions from family, friends or anyone in your social network can affect your motivation by the interactions with them. Negative and positive feedback from interactions with people significantly affects your outlook on how you feel support and encouragement to be motivated.

Cognitive Theory suggests that how someone may interpret an even reflects on their reaction to events. Our thoughts, emotions, and actions can influence the way we feel and the way that we act. However we interpret something is going to determine the motivation that we have to an event. Thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and outcome are reasons why we interpret situations and why our motivations varies depending on those reasons.

Humanistic Theory

Humanistic Theory is the Human decision-making that is based on the hierarchy of needs triangle. Self-Actualization being on the top of the triangle and this is where we all would want to be at which includes things that relate to creativity, problem-solving, morality, self-awareness, personal growth, fulfilling one's potential. Although first we have to start at the bottom of the triangle, Physiological is the basic needs in life such as food, water, sleep, shelter, clothing, and oxygen. If these basic needs are not met, they can be a big motivator to take action on. Next on the triangle is safety, once the physiological needs have been met we have to feel safe in our environment, personal safety, financial employment/security, availability to resources, and health/wellness. This is also a huge motivator because it results to how a person may feel and act on motivation. Above that is Love and belonging, this one is directly tied to safety and also the Social Theory because this is the environment that a person is living in. Family, friends, and a sense of connection/acceptance are a way of feeling safe in the environment we are living in and if a person does not feel the love and belonging then it can definitely be a good motivator to have those needs met. Above love and belonging is Esteem, esteem is a motivator that can be seen in a lot of peoples characters in how they want to live their life, things like confidence, self-esteem, respect, appreciation, accomplishment, a sense of recognition or feeling valued are reasons to be motivated. Then it goes to Self-Actualization on top of the pyramid.

Humanistic theory and Cognitive Theory

I would mainly both the Humanistic theory and Cognitive Theory due to the fact that Maslow's Hierarchy triangle is a great representation of how my motivation is involved in my life because it is interchangeable in the levels that we are at on that triangle. The way cognitive theory is also a great motivator in my life because my thoughts, emotions, and actions influences the way I feel and the way that I act on a daily basis. How I interpret something is going to determine the motivation that I will have and it reflects on my reaction in a present situation or event that I am facing, weather it has to do with school assignments, my Job, family issues, Church, or personal activities, my motivation varies on the situation (Humanistic) and also how I interpret the situation or event (Cognitive).

Why vs. what

Knowing your purpose, your "why" is important to take account for because you have to ask yourself "why does this matter?" instead of just focusing on the what and how of something. In my case, I am a music producer that wants to make music for artist, movies, TV shows, animations, and videogames because I honestly feel like music carries a lot of emotion in a song, sometimes just the lyrics get stuck in a persons head because of how it flows with the beat, or when a person remembers a song based on the instrumental alone because it resonates with them, or even having a memory attached to a song helps someone feel an emotion from a past event. My job as a music producer is to compose something that will resonate with someone and have them be moved by the music in one way or another. This can also influence our society and culture in my future music projects that I will work on.

Finding purpose

The definition of Purpose according to the textbook is: "Something that is personally meaningful to you and contributes to the world in some way." Finding purpose in my career is a major way to keep your mental health in check and finding purpose in things you do in your everyday life is crucial to living a life worth living. Everyone plays their part in this world and very much has a purpose. You can learn a lot from people and in some ways get to know your purpose based on the experiences that made you who you are today. When it come to my purpose, I always try to be the best version of myself even when I don't feel motivated to. I have many responsibilities to tend to and finding time to complete everything and doing everything the right way is definitely a goal for me. When it come to music, I find purpose in having my music being heard and having an audience react to it how they please. Personally I do see meaning in others opinions and their taste in general, it is good to study others point of view or judgement and be a student to that because we live in a time where everyone's mindset is going to be different and similar at the same time. Knowing how to cater to an audience with different taste yet similar taste in terms of music is a difficult process to do when composing music. For example, think of a DJ at a party, he has a room full of people with different music taste but he/she would ideally want everyone to be moved by the music being played. If he/she feels the room's energy dying down then the DJ would make a transition to another song that may be an entirely different genre of music but would cater to a majority of the room to get the energy to liven up.
