- The setting (whether it is in nature or indoors (manmade invention and evil)/ organised space or cluttered space)
- Music (it reflects the mood/the theme)
- Colours (same colour can be interpreted differently)
- Costumes (How it defines the character/ their social status/ their emotional or mental state)
- The way characters are dressed, and the makeup leaves an impression on the audience concerning their personality traits.
-juxtaposition of characters explains to us the relationships between them and the message conveyed.
- Tools such as animal companions and what they represent or how certain tools serve the plot or give an insight it to the characters (Harry potter wand) 
- frame: Sometimes it is dark or light, sometimes it might give a certain illusion to draw the audience in (abyss). Reflects the emotional state of different characters.
